I have no need for coats now that I've moved to FLA and only visit NYC in the summertime. I do have a photo of me at CBGB - taken the winter of '74/'75 - in which my peacoat can be seen on top of the cigarette machine next to me. I don't have pics of me in a peacoat in Times Square or MacDougal St. in the '50s, or North Beach in the '60s, but somebody might have.UPDATE:It's been many years since I've seen a genuine U.S. Navy peacoat in a thrift shop.

If you stayed out of the toilet then you wouldn't need one. That's what I'd say if someone asked me if I liked their new pea coat. For that reason alone, I'd never wear one :P

I have 3! I love the look. I am, in fact, very in love with the look of anything "nautical." Big buttons, stripes, red white and blue. The good thing about these coats versus those big poofy northface coats is that they actually keep you warm and you do not end up looking like a primary colored marshmallow. I love that there are different lengths too. For me, the bigger the buttons, the better.

It's a cute coat, but I've never worn one. I'm more of a hoodie girl, but if I wore coats I wouldn't mind wearing one of these.

The equivalent of this, where I live, is the Gore-Tex rain coat. Wear a pea coat in the Vancouver rainy season and you're wearing about 50 pounds of wet fabric.
