The beginning of the end of the 90's for me. . .This band is on tour now just to remind me what I didn't like about them- average musicians riding the wave of a moderately cute alterna-chick to stardom. Sells music- but doesn't make solid art. . .

I've always loved this band. Gwen isn't the best vocalist around (although she's great compared to a lot of other famous "pop" stars), but she has her own style and has seemingly always been a good performer. I love how they blended so many differant styles of music, how their own style continued to evolve, and how they didn't really sound like anyone else. I also related to a lot of Gwen's lyrics, since it's from a young woman's point of view.

No doubt, being my favorite band I gave them five stars of course. I remember I had always liked them but When I saw them in concert for the frist time I fell completely in love with them. They had so much enegy, so much style. Itr seemd as if they were having just as much fin as the crowd was! I love how no Doubt has such diversity, but are still the same in many ways. They are constantly adding to their sound, making each album a bit different. Two thumbs up for never letting me down.

Notwithstanding my three stars for No Doubt, this band has to be one of the most presently overrated acts out there. Contrary to some of the other reviewers I like ska, but No Doubt was a bit too early on the second ska revival of the mid-90's. The band had largely abandoned this sound by "Tragic Kingdom" (1995), resulting in their best release (e.g. "Spiderwebs", "Just A Girl", and "Don't Speak"). Unfortunately, this led to Gwen Stefani becoming overexposed and the group never really matched this effort on follow-ups save for a few exceptions (e.g. "New" and their cover of "It's My Life").

Gwen Stefani's not all that good.
Miles Davis 05/03/2005
They get 2 stars because the band does have some degree of talent. However, Gwen Stefani is incredibly annoying. Her voice sounds like one of those talking-baby dolls of yore. Squeaky and whiney. Weird mouth and chin section too. Looks like a D-grade porn star.
Tankerbradley 02/12/2005
not very good i relly do not like them just the way they sound just not good at all i only like one or two of there songs and i have to be in a mood to listen to them
Skizero 01/24/2005
Junk when they came out, the most mainstream worst of the Ska Movement(a style of music which should've gone out w/old Madness CDs anyway). suck now. Gwen's solo stuff is junk too. i liked Don't Speak but only the video. put Gwen in Red hair, and she looks like some chick i liked at the time.
Nanaki 01/24/2005
At first I didn't like the band, but then it grew on me. Their style is just so different and non-mainstream that I just have to applaud them. They have some weird songs, especially the one Gwen did with Moby, but I liked it. But, did they break up or something? I saw Gwen do a solo song, and it was cool, but where's NO Doubt?
OrangeCharlie 01/23/2005
Fun! Fun! Fun! Great band, great songs!
dropout88 12/02/2004
no doubt is awesome...hey baby hey baby hey
imrosa 07/10/2004
no doubt is probably on eof the greatest bands around and they attract fans from every genre of music..... yea they may not be hip hop or pop but the ppl who listen to that still listen to no doubt.... and they are still able to keep their fans from the punk/ska/rock world. that there is a sign of a truely great band... people have this tendency to think that if other people start to like it... its bad.... people who think like that are just idiots
mIsS_tHiNg 04/23/2004
I liked them best when they were like more Rock/Ska but its my life turned out to be a really good cover.
opinion8dclass 04/20/2004
I love no doubt i think their ace, and gwen has a great voice which is really original and different. Just a girl is one of my favourites songs, along with its my life and dont speak. i mostly prefer there older songs as they turned more poppy as they went on. bt they stil rock!! :D
pinkbex 04/14/2004
No Doubt were fantastic in the late ninties but made the fatal mistake of changing genre to move with the times. This left there real fans upset that she did not stick to what she does best. But once again we have a decent song crawl outta the woodwork. A very clever cover, its my life, by far the best song since New. But the split that is soon to come is enevitable as 10yrs has seen too many uncharted falls to keep strong.
Dicky Wadsworth 03/27/2004
You know whos wearing the pants in this band. And thats why they are so unbelievably bad.
shepacksabowl 02/15/2004
THEY SOLD OUT! but gwen's still hot
freebird_0128 01/04/2004
No Doubt is one of those bands that is constantly evolving. With each album, they play the music they have the heart for from the ska-influenced Tragic Kingdom to the darker Return of Saturn to the 80's feel of their new material. While not lyrically deep, they are always reaching new creativity. Gwen Stefani is definitely who drives this band- while not having the most beautiful voice, its unique and she has that certain something. Whether it be fashion, No Doubt's music or the efforts to branch out solo, she is never afraid to be different. Which is a relief from other female singers who are media puppets. I think she's refreshing and No Doubt's music is always enjoyable.
StanUzbeck 08/20/2003
Relentlessly annoying from day one. So bad that I can't even respect them for being annoying. First of all, Ska is probably the worst genre to ever exist. It's made even worse by sticking a not-very-good-looking chick with an obnoxious and completely unmusical voice in front of it, wearing a stupid Bindi dot on her forehead when there is no way in hell she's Hindu. Her duet with that R&B singer (I don't know her name and don't care) only shows that Ms. Stefani will do anything to attract the media (like a female Fred Durst).
cromulance 08/12/2003
The band peaked with Tragic Kingdom and Return of Saturn...those were two of the best rock albums of the '90s. Their latest album isn't really as good...it's more of a fun dance record, but there is still some musical creativity, and well, it's fun!

were good back then but now they're starting to suck

Like her music and like her fashion style!
JASONLUVER 06/12/2003
I look up to Gwen stafani as a rebel in many ways. The band is just wonderful. Don't speak is haunting almost, it makes me cry. I love them!
getback 05/10/2003
Great fun group ,good tunes and great sound -go Gwen
RebelYell1861 05/09/2003
I guess they should have just quit after that Tragic Kingdom cd because now they just suck.
phanumatrassam ee 04/22/2003

sktmps 03/22/2003
for having the best cd in 02 & for getting hitched good luck to GS & GR! over 15 yrs in biz major props!
CrucifiedDeath 01/31/2003
No Doubt really isn't my style of music .. but Gwen Stefani is definitely very sexy. I drool over her. I wish them luck - they've been through a lot of crap together.
Linzy1 01/30/2003
Kind of a guilty pleasure for me, since they'e a ska-influenced band and I don't hang with a ska-loving crowd .... I like the fact that they've been making solid music together for like 15 years (wish I could keep a band together that long!) but mostly I'm jonesin' for Gwen Stefani, the hardest working woman in the music biz.
houmusician 01/03/2003
Sorry, another Chick rock band that does not cut it for me. Theres only been a handful of rock acts with women fronting them that have ever measured up. Pat Benatar, Pretenders, and Bonnie Raitt....All the others are just chick rock. Who cares!
damienangel 01/01/2003
i love gwen stefani and they are one of a kind.
*Kurma's^hott* 10/03/2002
No Doubt are the biggest sell outs!!! if anyone agrees with me say "i".
couchpotato 08/26/2002
They friggin' rule! That guy from Bush is one lucky dude to have won the heart of the lovely Gwen.
ofofofof 08/14/2002

Errol 03/12/2002
I really liked "Don't Speak." But I haven't heard much else that has impressed me.
ellajedlicka21 10/21/2001
Really horrible band.
Joey 333 08/01/2001
They're great musicians, that's for sure, but I've only heard about five songs. I think they're pretty versatile.
Drummer_Chick 07/29/2001
I regret rushing out and buying this CD, it's such a waste of sound and energy!
AthenaSongbird 07/17/2001
I like No Doubt because they have a very unique sound, and also because their songs vary a lot in style. On the "Tragic Kingdom" CD, no two songs sounded alike. They always keep me guessing, and they're never boring.
beat_on_the_br at 06/27/2001
hell yeah i love no doubt! they're unique, and talented. some of their songs are better than others, but that's all right. i like tragic kingdom a lot, and return of saturn is good too. i dont have their OLD cd, i think it's self titled, can anyone tell me if its good?
Wild_lily 06/04/2001
They DISGUST me. I cannot stand anything about the band or Gwen. When people say she has a great and unique voice all i can think about is an ear ache. And as far as her being beautiful... if you like sweaty, greasy, over-done, trying too hard, annoying, ugly, weird, no style, bitchy girls then i guess shes great for you. but i cannot even grasp why anyone in their right mind would like such a thing. They make me SICK!
Mystikal 04/22/2001
They're so cute! Great to just jump around to. And Gwen is sooooo hott....yummmm....
janie53185 04/20/2001
No Doubt is good-time ska. Gwen's voice is very unique and I'd like to hear her sing more swing, like in her duet on Brian Setzer's CD. But goind back to No Doubt, it's unlike anything I've ever heard, a mix of swing, pop, funk, punk, rock, and reaggae, they are an unbelievable ska band. Great to listen to.
pinkle 04/13/2001
What an awful band! One hit in the UK (bout 4 years ago) and suddenly they seem to think they're famous.
Talena 04/10/2001
No Doubt plays great feel-good music. I love Gwen's voice and the fact that she doesn't have to present herself to the media as a slut like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera do just to be popular.
rAtErDuDe77 03/28/2001
If I could give a higher rating than 5 I would! No Doubt is such an incredibly awesome band. Their music is very diverse, but all similar enough to keep the same fan-base. I would say that thier music ranges from Ska-Punk to Alternative to Pop-Rock to New Wave influenced Pop-Punk. Gwen is so hot and the band is really awesome. And I think its so rad to have a girl on the Punk scene and shes just aobut the coolest person in the world...
bibbleoo 03/25/2001
'Don't speak' is one of my all time faves but i haven't really heard enough more of them
Wiggum 03/21/2001
I remember first hearing “Just a Girl” on the radio in 1995. I though Gwen Stefani’s voice was interesting, so I stopped by a store to check out “Tragic Kingdom.” On the back of the CD there was a picture of a drop-dead beautiful blond, and I remember thinking there’s no way that could be the singer – because if someone that hot was singing songs that catchy, it would have been all over MTV by then. Turns out I was just about two weeks early, because before too long you couldn’t watch MTV for longer than 10 minutes without seeing Gwen’s face. Well I bought “Tragic Kingdom,” and I still enjoy listening to it every now and then. “Return of Saturn” doesn’t have nearly as much energy or charm, but it’s still a decent CD, and I’m looking forward to the next one.
