My favorite band of all time. I love most of their songs, I lighten up on the songs I like in their later years (1997-2000). Gish was pretty good, Siamese Dream was their best album, Infinite Sadness was fairly good, Adore was not so good, only had a few good songs, Machina was a big disappointment but had one good song , and Zietgiest was the biggest piece of crap ever, I can't believe people like that album.

They've been around for a while, and were leaders of their time. I like them, but it's not something you hear many other places than your own collection.

One of the best bands out of the 90's. Billy Corgan is a musical genius. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is one of the best albums of all time. I highly recommend their music to everyone. The song "1979" is definately in my top 20 songs of all time as well...superb.

Its hard to not like the Smashing Pumpkins because they had a formidable list of well-known and well liked songs. Essentially they are a bleak alternative rock band with influence drawn from 80's arena rock. Their angsty style has proved highly influential to the alternative rock scene, and were it not for Nirvana the Smashing Pumkpkins would probably be remembered as the most influential band of the 90's. They are all very talented instrumentalists. Corgan is very inventive lyrically and stylistically. I especially like Jimmy Chamberlain's smooth, swift style of drumming on their earlier releases. There was always a lot of drama behind the scenes with the Pumpkins, and it took them in an akward diretion musically. I hope they can do some better stuff now that they are back together.

Liked them. Don't know the title of the song, but I liked the one where they sing The Killer in Me is the Killer in You. I also liked 1979, which was one of my favorite years (Though I honestly cannot discern a single lyric in that song).

Three classic albums in Gish, Siamese dream and Melon Collie but a bit let down by other middling stuff like Adore.

I recently heard a radio interview that speculated that if Billy Corgan had died instead of Kurt Cobain, it would have been the Pumpkins that would have gone down as the seminal grunge band of the 90's, not Nirvana. While I don't necessarily agree with that, Smashing Pumpkins were HUGE for a while, and seemed to be destined for U2 / Pearl Jam status. Somewhere along the line they lost their momentum... it happens to the best of them.

This has got to be one of my most favorite bands of all time. Musically, this band was SO versitile. You don't see that from any of the new popular bands they play on the radio these days. It's just a bunch of crap. This is why I no longer listen to the radio anymore! This band was great in concert too. Too bad they broke up :(

They get my vote for best band of the 90's. Nirvana's tremondously overrated, although Radiohead could give them a run for their money if they release another great album. But as of right now, they were and still are the kings of the alternative rock movement. I salute you, Pumpkins.

People that think that it was all downhill after Mellon Collie dont really know what they are talking about. Adore is one of the best albums of the 90's. Oh and btw, they only wrote one song about vampires (well only one so blatent).

There are a couple of songs from this band I like. I don't particularly care for Billy Corgan's voice, though. It gets a little whiny at times. I hope I'm not the only one who noticed. I suppose if he were to actually sing it might have been pretty good. I guess rock isn't about that though, huh?

These guys are quite amazing. Just the "Mellon Collie" album alone is enough to see the massive amount of talent this band has. I mean, it's a DOUBLE ALBUM, and there's not a weak track or a song that sounds the same as another one on there. Siamese Dream, Gish, and Adore are also excellent albums. I'll admit Billy Corgan doesn't have the greatest voice in the world, but the songwriting, musicianship, and sheer passion exhibited by Billy and the rest of the Pumpkins more than make up for that.

Smashing Pumpkins are alright. I like one song of theirs on the Lost Highway soundtrack that I listen to. His voice is a bit bothersome at some times. But, hey .. Billy Corgan doesn't have the worst singing voice I've heard. Isn't he in a new band now? Zwan or something. *Thumbs up*

When I die and make a soundtrack of my life, Smashing Pumpkins will have a large portion of the album. Another product of the spree of great music that came out in the early 90's (what happened after that?), The Smashing Pumpkins are one of the most talented groups out there. The range of styles that they use is rare, and they pull it off well. The greatest hits album is absolutely gorgeous, both the singles cd and the b-sides.

One thing good about this band is that they disbanded bafore it got too redundant. They lost a little bit of their spark at the end but they still had that overall, edgy sound.

I was broken-hearted to see them go. But we have ZWAN now, I guess. They will always be my favorite band! They have already been for many years. I wish I lived in Chicago. They are/were a great inspiration to me along with many others. BILLY - he looks very handsome with the bald look. His words are so meaningful ("For Martha") and his music is just, touching. JAMES - he is one good looking man! Sure he might have worn a dress for the "Today" video, but still. I love his style. D'Arcy - my B.Ass inspiration. She just kicks major ass. Jimmy - who can't love a guy who was in a band called "The Skittles" that just cracks me up!...and the late addition MELISSA - her name is cool Auf Der Maur, I think that is spelled right? Anyways, I prefer D'Arcy's style more than hers, but I think she did well while she was there.

One of my 2 favorite bands (the other being Our Lady Peace and my reasonings for loving each are similar, but they're definitely different bands), I discovered the Pumpkins thanks to "Disarm" and "Today." Mellon Collie was my first SP album and there was so much coolness and variety of sound and moods to be found. I eventually bought all their albums over the years and they're all great, each one having had a turn LIVING in my CD player, lol...Gish is the only one I'd hesitate to rave about, cuz I fail to find the beauty in any of the songs except for the last track in which I think D'arcy sings and is followed by a hilarious--IMO--hidden track. Anyway, I love Corgan's voice and the special sounds of their songs and music. They are/were talented artists and I will always treasure their music.

I think that The Smashing Pumpkins are one of the greatest rock bands to ever exist. All of their songs have real emotion to them, which is not typical in music today. Billy Corgan is a musical genious which is quite obvious if you listen to the music carefully. And the whole band has so much talent. It made me sad to not see them on the 2000 music awards for the Machina alblum. It just goes to show as Henry Rollins said, "good alblums don't sell." only the junk that the media hypes up. And anyone that says that the Pumpkins can't rock anymore, obviously hasn't seen them live. The Smashing Pumpkins will always be my favorite.

It is hard to find a band that stuck around as long as The Pumpkins had and to keep their original sound and toy with it. Very experimental. That was their sound. Able to create beautiful melodies and heartfelt ballads as well as fast hard thrash music. Pumkins are one of those bands you could tell couldn't last in the changeing downward spiral of music today. Yet, this band has been very inspirational and a leader into a new type of sound. I feel they have made an eternal mark on music history. Smashing Pumpkins were truely artists. Some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard. Brilliant band. Sad to see them eatin alive by rape rock.
