The great Jimmy Foxx was a fearsome slugger who possibly had the greatest combination of power and hitting average. Often referred to as the 'Right-Handed Babe Ruth', Jimmy Foxx and the Philadelphia Athletics wreaked havoc in an era which was dominated by Ruth's Yankees for American League supremacy. Unfortunately, Double-X would be largely forgotten when he died in 1974 of alcoholism. But not even Babe Ruth could be called in the roll of Triple Crown winners, of which this immortal Hall of Famer figures most prominently. A truly modest gentleman, Foxx was simply one of the best to ever play the game.

Perhaps the greatest right handed hitter of all time. The Pujols of his era.

People say that he was the fastest player of his era but he never DID much with that. Did whack the ball and play a decent First Base. A borderline Four/Three.

Jimmie Foxx noted for his batting, particularly as a homerun hitter. Played on the Philadelphia Athletics from 1926 - 1935 and the Boston Redsox from 1936 - 1942. Collected 534 homeruns in 2,317 games. Had a lifetime batting average of .325, and in three World Series compiled a mark of .344. Appeared in seven All-Star Games in which he batted .316. Played first and third bases and also was a catcher.

This guy is hamefully underrated. One of the best home run hitters of all-time(534). 6th all-time in RBI. .609 SLG% has him easily sitting in the top ten there. Alcoholism destroyed the late years of his life.

Double X was the second greatest first baseman of all-time, right behind Gehrig. Just because he played during Gehrig's time doesn't mean he should be ranked this low.
