There's a rat in the kitchen, what am I going to do? I am going to kill that rat thats what I am going to do! That is a line from a UB40 song. It is probably what I would have said before I saw this picture. However, Remy is such a cute little blue rat. I would never think of hurting him. However, in the kitchen of a restaurant. You could tell I was no débutante. ANyhow, my review of this film. I love Pixar animation films. I think they are great. This was no exception. The film had an excellent story with some great themes. Determination, follow your dreams, anyone can cook, hope, friendship, being creative. Cooking, I felt , is a type of art form. It is wondrous to watch as chefs put together these ingredients in such a way as to make something the is both pleasing to the eye as well as the pallet. Ratatouille is very pleasing to the eye. We are introduced to Remy, the young determined rat, as he is trying to combine ingredients in a farm house that he is soon roused out of (see the movie , I am not giving it away). After sometime in the sewers of Paris, he finds the place to be able to express himself. THere is such heart to this film that it is one that I have enjoyed watching over and over. I saw it 5 times in the theater. I thought it was head and shoulders above the Simpson Movie. Great movie. Go see it

cute movie. I can relate to the rat wanting to be a chef. Not very realistic, but what cartoons are? Watching the movie, the only thought that kept running through my head was how unsanitary it was. lol.

This is a Pixar/Disney-flick about a rat that dreams of not having to steal food, but somehow…acquire it, while wanting to become a chef. The rat’s family is hit by a catastrophe, forcing the rat to end up in Paris, where it by a series of accidents ends up a puppeteering chef. Don’t ask. This film is very Disneyish, letting you know what will happen miles in advance. It tries to combat prejudice while unleashing it; being a rat’s not bad, being French is a walking stereotype. Blah. Boring. Still, this film gives way for a few laughs. It’s predictable and good, but nothing, really, in comparison with “Finding Nemo”. Note: I saw a version where the voices were dubbed by Swedish actors.

Another great film from Pixar. The animation is great and the story is fine. Not the best Pixar film, but still good.

cute enough movie. but there are better Pixar films. kind of hard to root for a rat but I do when he takes an interest in cooking and can hear the ghost of the best chef in Paris. he hides out in the chefs restaurant after he dies. he befriends an awkward clean up guy named Linguinni. Remy{ or isit rennie?} hides under the chef cap of linguinni and helps him make these terrific dishes. all along trying avoiding getting caught. charming enough but not a favorite of the Pixar films. still there were still a big audience when we saw it of all ages and they seemed to enjoy the movie like we did.

I second alpepper's judgement: Ratatouille isn't Pixar's finest, but it's still quite entertaining.SYNOPSIS: Rat with enhanced senses dreams of being a chef. He gets his chance by meeting a clumsy dishwasher. Insert typical buddy movie story here, complete with chick coming between the friendship. PROS: While the scenery is not as dazzling as its predecessors (like Finding Nemo), the setting doesn't lend itself to that atmosphere: Rats aren't particularly "pretty", and kitchens aren't entirely glamorous. But, what you will notice is the fine attention to textures in the rendering: Rendering believable, animated fur on an army of rodents is no small task! CONS: Storyline is very predictable. But, then again, it's a kid's flick. What do you want?OVERALL: Very endearing, though probably will fade in the background when compared to other Pixar films.

Middle of the pack Pixar fare. Better than Monsters Inc. and Cars, but behind Nemo and Toy Story 2. [Bug's Life is still my all-time Pixar favorite].
Ratatouille had a cute storyline and impressive CGI, but it was not particularly funny. One other gripe: Having once had the onerous (and horrifying) task of deratting our cramped under-the-house crawlspace, I don't find rats cute and endearing.
