This one was goofy at times, but it did set off knuckleheaded laughter from time to time. As kids stuff goes its actually watchable and the training scene with the dumplings was pretty funny.

At least we don't have to actually SEE Jack Black in this one...

A movie for the whole family, everyone will enjoy it. How can you not love Jack Black as a panda bear?

This is a terrific movie. It pays homage to some of the greatest kung-fu movies of the past while simultaneously advancing the art. The story is actually surprisingly deep, filled with humor, and executed with exceptional art and animation. Especially interesting is the use of color, the varying styles of camerawork, and the 2-D title sequence. I thought the celebrity voices were well acted and didn't detract from the story, as can sometimes happen in voice work.

It was funny in places, and some of the characters are rather different from what we normally see so there's that cool factor. However, I had expected more and it wasn't up to my expectation on many levels. The panda, voiced by Jack Black actually felt kind of out of place. I don't know what it was exactly, and as much as Jack Black is a good voice actor in many other roles, but this one was just a misfit. Panda's father, which is a goose by the way and don't ask me how that happened, sounded more like a middle Easterner than Chinese. All and all the movie is still very entertaining, but this is not nearly the best animation one can find these days.
