The author of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Truman Capote (1924-1984), burst on the literary scene at the age of 22 with the publication of his first novel, Other Voices, Other Rooms, a self-reflection of Capote’s childhood and homosexuality. Capote was as popular for his self-publicity as for his books, often in the gossip pages, surrounded by the celebrities of his day. In 1966 Capote published In Cold Blood, a work he considered a non-fiction novel, following a murder case from beginning to end.
