RTD is terrible. Having used public transportation in D.C., Boston, NYC, etc., this is the worst I have ever encountered. The buses are ALWAYS late, usually by 10-20 minutes (not because of traffic, but because the drivers like to sit and chat with each other instead of leaving the stations on time). The trains do leave on time, but are very limited in where they go, so the buses are the main transportation. How exactly is this going to work out when the Democratic Convention is in town?

The Denver light rail is new and clean. I'm told that some routes have been eliminated going outbound from the city which has caused some commotion, but from what I've taken in the city I've found it to be perfect.

Not many choices, but it was clean and rather convenient getting to and from downtown Denver to the suburbs. . .wasn't cheap, though. . .

Checkout www.rtd-denver.com/fastracks. This shows that Denver is very forward thinking and is admirable urban planning. Good for them for the support of this massive undertaking expanding multiple light rail and commuter rail lines throughout the metropolitan area.

It's a little early to tell yet how good this is going to be as much of it is still under construction - but the initial sections, extending to the 16th St. Mall downtown and across to major destinations like Invesco Field, are very promising and remarkably convenient.

I believe that the light rail is the best way to travel. The train is always on time and drivers always so very friendly.
