Excelled in "A Beautiful Mind."

He has been brilliant in every movie of his that I have seen.

His best performances are easily: "Gladiator" and "A Beautiful Mind"

I've only seen him in a couple of films ("L.A. Confidential, "A Beautiful Mind"), but I was not overly impressed.  His role in the first film was limited and one-dimensional, and he was totally unconvincing in the second, which I thought was a most stupidly executed film,  But, that's Ron Howard for you.  I realize he's been in a few bombs, so, maybe it's best I didn't see those.

He has never given less than 100% in any movie I have seen him in. A Beautiful Mind was one of the most convincing performances I have seen from any actor. I can't picture any other actor handling that role as well.

I haven't seen as much of him as others because he normally is in films I'm not so interested in but maybe in the future...

Who cares about his personal life?  If were are talking about in terms of acting ability, I think hes deffinately a GREAT actor!  I loved his portrail of Jim Braddock in Cinderella Man. I think his other great perfomances include;  Gladiator, and Master and Commander.  Even his newest flick 3:10 to Yuma looks promising!  He always plays GREAT roles.

Good actor, seems like a chump in real life however, liked him best in LA Confidential, was great in the Insider.  Lately however, one can only view him based on his personal demons, which seem a bit larger than life.

This guy seems conceited, but that doesn't mean he's not a half-decent actor. Loved him in "Cinderella Man."
He wasn't terrible in "Master and Commander" either.

He has amazing range, and that makes him one of the best actors today. L.A. Confidential, The Insider, Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind, and Cinderella Man are all great movies with him playing totally different characters. Just don't approach him when he's near a phone.

Liked him in the 3 movies listed to the left, including the one canadasucks just mentioned, but my favorite thing he did was going around on South Park getting into fights as host of a kid's show. Not the most likeable fellow, but he can act, though I regard 'A Beautiful Mind" as quite overrated.

When he's not beating people and getting a free ride from the media, he is a solid leading man. . .check out the underrated "Master and Commander"

I thought he was pretty good in "Gladiator",but I was blown away with his performance in "A Beautiful Mind".Pure genius! This versatile man is not about to be typecast.

I truly believe he is a good actor but there are times where I find myself being entertained more by the supporting actors in his films. Like in Gladiator(Joaquin Phoenix), The Insider( Gary Oldman), and Master & Commander (Paul Bettany). He was brilliant in A Beautiful Mind and I was sorry to not see him receive the Oscar for that. But he has portrayed strength superbly and then turned around and portrayed weakness to perfection.

The Oscar curse would get him. Crowe hasn't produced a decent film since A Beautiful Mind.

He's actually an actor of some talent, but seems to be in great danger of becoming a brawling, egocentric industry joke. That would be a shame, but he really has no one but himself to blame for that.

He's a better actor than a lot of his films reveal. His greatest role was in the Insider. I think he's torn between being a great actor and being a big movie star. He's aiming for Lawrence Olivier and settling for Clark Gable.

I like Russel as an actor he was brilliant in Beautiful Mind and Gladiator and he stood out in City Confidential. I think his best work is a head of him if he can stay out of jail.

Regardless of the problems Mr. Crowe may face in his personal life, his acting ability stands without question. His ability to delve so deep into a character that for a moment we forget it is an actor and not the person he is portraying puts Mr. Crowe in the leagues of such names as Olivier, Tracy, and Peck. His performances are not staged or coached, they are just in the moment. Certainly one of the best on today's big screen, Russell is worth whatever you have to pay him, or put up with.

Without a doubt, Russell Crowe is one of the outstanding actors of his generation. His role as James J. Braddock in The Cinderella Man really does a lot to bolster that arguement. But in light of todays news that he was arrested in New York today for throwing a telephone at a hotel clerk and then punching him, in typical Crowe fashion, I have to say I'm really disappointed in him as a man. A couple of years ago he had his bodyguard hold a photographer while he punched him out. Great actor, Lousy guy! Too bad he didn't learn anything from Braddock.

Possibly today's best actor in the world. Acadamy Award winner, many times a nominee, should win again soon with Cinderella Man.

In my eyes, one of the best actors ever. And I don't say that a lot. Russell Crowe can play any role and can be convincing.You can think about him what you want (his private life) but he has this gift not many actors have.

Russell is an amazing actor and he has played such a broad range of characters in his movies. Very talented. (Too bad his reputation & attitude off-screen is so damn bad.)

Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind, The Insider, Master and Commander....Russell Crowe is an actor of superior talent...one of the best of the next generation of actors in Hollywood. He has great range and is great playing characters that are interesting and have great depth. Even in second tier movies like Proof of Life, Virtuaosity and as one of many headliners in L.A. Confidential, he shines.
