I'm not in, nor do I know many people who are in the demographic for these spots so I don't know if the spots are successful at generating sales. But I do know it's been wildly successful at generating punchlines at pubs and parties for a couple of decades. Everytime someone with a drink in their hand hits the deck some wise guy is likely to utter the phrase.

I think the idea they're trying to present is really good, but they really ought to find some different actors. It's got to be one of the worst pieces of acting I have ever seen.

This is one of the greatest ad campaigns of all time, because it's so memorable. Also served as the source of endless comic shtick on all levels of American life. And, it did point up the unrelenting cruelty in this country, as millions of viewers laughed their asses off over the plight of the geriatric Mrs. Fletcher.

Who doesn't know this lady? It is very unfortunate that most people remember the line, but forget what product it is.

I don't recall the LifeCall commercials being an ad campaign, but they were memorable though poorly produced. How often does a line in low production commercial become part of the popular lexicon, not very often. I remember that a radio station in Raleigh made a rap song out of both "I've fallen, and I can't get up" and "I'm having chest pains". Was this the same actress in the clapper commercials?

This was the funniest commercial of all time! Anybody with a sense of humor knows this and can appreciate that. I have a wav of that and it still makes me laugh hysterically. I also remember people who wanted to no-sell the funnyness of it and wouldn't put Mrs. Fletcher over. You know the type.. "Oh that's not funny, that's mean". Screw people like that, wet blankets like that who can't laugh at something truly funny as "I've fallen and I can't get up" are the kind of people who need LifeCalls because they have heart attacks from taking things too serious!!! It's a funny commercial! LAUGH!

Horrible but so memorable. The second guy (I'm having chest pains!) was cool too.

God bless the "I've Fallen And I Can't Get Up" lady. We've laughed at her flailing on the floor. We've stolen her catchphrase for Viagra jokes. Hopefully, some of us have also thought to buy a cell phone for that frail, elderly family member in her memory, and trained them to wear it and use it. Calcium pills make a great stocking stuffer, too.

I believe the elderly woman they used in this ad campaign got her start in vaudeville, died a few years ago, and is buried in a Catholic cemetery outside of Philadelphia.

what jokes made out of somebodys misfortune. it was overused and was only funny in a few situations.

If you are a fan of Regis Philbin's verion of Millionaire, the name of the person who said this was on the $500K question! Such a memorable but funny commercial should be looked carefully. Who knows, maybe something similar to this can happen again on such game shows!

HILARIOUS!!! The old lady in the ad is more pathetic than sympathizable...it's FUNNY that she fell and can't get up!!! :)

i hate TV, but it was great to see this old bat fall. old people getting hurt are funny.

I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up is one of the classic and most memorable lines ever from a commercial.

I've completely forgotten all about these commercials until I saw it on VH1's I Love the 90's . . . . I can't help but to feel guilty about laughing about such a serious issue, but the way it's portrayed in the commercial is just hysterical. I can see where the jokes would get kinda old after a while, though.
