Urban legend. This law never existed.

If there ever was a law like this it was a long time ago. We still have a set of Encyclopedia Britannica my mother bought about the time I was born and I doubt she got it on the black market.

Yeah, like that's going to stop people from making moonshine in their basements! And who would think of looking in the Encyclopedia Brittanica for that one! I think that they banned it for another reason.

This is an urban legend, and is simply not true. there is no such law on the books in Texas.

Well that's rich. When I lived in Texas for a short time back in the 80's you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a beer bottle. Home of the drive-thru Party Barn where people didn't even have to get out of their cars to pickup a 6 pack. But it's illegal to know how to brew it? Must be a plot by all the local breweries.

I guess my great-grandmother was commiting a crime. I was born and raised in Texas, and I actually never knew this until recently.

So . . . is the internet illegal, too?
