 | XAgent (28) 04/02/2008 | Talk about range. He's played a shark, an archbishop, a cop, a psycho dad and a gay captain.

 | TeresaG (29) 03/09/2008 | De Niro is along the same lines as Pacino ~ again, the stereotypically "Mafioso" type. The difference being, while both are great actors, De Niro has more of a sense of humor! How funny he was (voicewise) in Shark Tales (Disney), Meet the Parents (the best of the two) and Analyze This. I also think he has a much more diverse range of characters than Pacino (again, while also giving Pacino 5 stars for his roles).

 | theman2992 (0) 03/08/2008 | De Niro is also one of my favorite actors like Al Pacino. He is real awesome in his work.

 | Dionysus (1) 08/04/2007 | Robert De Niro is one of the most talented actors of all time. Raging Bull is probably his best performance.

 | GoinDownSlow (23) 05/14/2007 | Also one of the ten best actors although some of his later work seemed sloppy...

 | GreggOrange (17) 01/06/2007 | The best mob actor of all time, even if he is typecast in that role. If you don't like tough guy mob movies then stay away, far away. My rating indicates just how good and convincing he is in these type of roles.

 | kolby1973 (32) 11/03/2006 | Not my favorite actor by far, but he can definately act with the best of them. I have loved many of his movies, but I have disliked even more of them...but he does deserve any praise he has received...

 | Kelticman (10) 11/01/2006 | Probably my favourite screen actor of all time. My only criticisms of him is that the choice of roles in some of his latter day movies leaves a lot to be desired and that he perhaps lacks the range and diversity of other great screen actors. That said, I believe no one can play the tough, cynical, psychotic, menacing, gangster/tough guy role as well as De Niro can.
He is the ultimate method actor. From the understated menace and assurance he brought to the screen as the young Vito Corleone in Godfather 2, through to his roles as deranged loner, Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver to arguably his finest ever acting performance as the intense, angry and troubled boxer, Jake La Motta, in Raging Bull, he is rightly and justly credited as having raised the bar in terms of making his characters seem utterly convincing, utterly believable, and more importantly, utterly watchable.

 | Jeremy00081 (5) 09/12/2006 | now here's a guy who was born to be an actor. His memorable roles in movies like "Goodfellas", "Cape Fear", and even "Meet the Parents" are unforgettable, unless you're one of those gasoline huffers, in which case you should be watching Carrot Top films...and then forgetting them.

 | OutsideBlitz (10) 12/13/2005 | This might be a shocker, but I would consider his best performance ever to be in the Meet The Parents and Meet The Fockers movies. He completely made the role realistic and showed how he can be serious and funny in the same movie.

 | FranksWildYears (48) 11/07/2005 | I agree that he is one of the best of his generation but in recent years he has played in a hand ful of films that are beneath both his talent and his legacy. Hopefully he will become a little more choosey and enter a great Third Act period of his career like Michael Caine has.

 | callitdowntheline75 (53) 03/21/2005 | Perhaps the greatest living actor today, Robert Deniro will always be known for his gritty performances. From his memorable portrayal as young Vito Corleone in 'The Godfather' to his humorous portrayal as a mobster in 'Analyze This', Deniro has the range of few others in Hollywood. But perhaps his greatest role was in Martin Scorsese's disturbing masterpiece, 'Raging Bull' as Deniro's Jake Lamotta was too real for many viewers. His celebrated transformation from killer boxer to bloated nightclub owner/personal wreck can only be reinforced as he became the despicable Lamotta through a staggering weight gain of sixty pounds. A method actor? Yes, but he is more than that. Deniro is an acting god and legend who can potentially win the Oscar for best actor year in and year out with any role.

 | Maomania (1) 03/01/2005 | I am aware that he is a Hollywood Legend. I just think he is overrated. I'm glad that he is still successfull, but his current movies do not require great acting skills. But he is in some great movies.

 | Skizero (13) 02/14/2005 | i respect what the guy did from 1973-1980, and a few scattered pictures here and there. but have you looked at DeNiro's career overall. filled w/more bad moved than you can shake a stick at. yeah, he'd just like Brando. Brando became a hack, starring in paycheck movies too, later in his career.
(1 voted this helpful, 0 funny and 0 agree) |
 | Orville1339 (0) 02/14/2005 | He's good but he picks too many bad movies. For example The Fan. He should stick with movies that are up to his standards and not be a sellout.

 | ILoveKubrik (0) 02/14/2005 | After Brando the most versatile American actor.
(2 voted this helpful, 0 funny and 0 agree) |
 | edt4 (99) 01/14/2005 | Whatever happened to this guy? Without a doubt, he was one of America's great actors. You wouldn't know it going by the movies he's in today, where his standard role seems to be the befuddled, inarticulate older guy with a low boiling point. Whoever thought the guy who brought the characters of Travis Bickle or Don Corleone or Jake LaMotta to such vivid, unforgettable life has now been reduced to low-brow comedies and insipid melodramas? Maybe he figures he's made his Art and now its time to make his $$$. Understandable, I suppose, but it's a shame to see him squander his considerable talent like Brando did.

 | Gonzalez (0) 12/07/2004 | Robert DeNiro is one of the greatest actors of our time. And a very diverse one too. He usually plays the tough role but years ago he did a tremendous role in the movie Awakenings that starred him and Robin Williams. He was stupendous.

 | WannabeCowboy (0) 11/28/2004 | Great actor, but unfortunately I read an article that quoted DeNiro as saying that he would leave America and live in Ireland if George W Bush were re-elected. Well, Mr DeNiro, I dont think the founding fathers had quite that in mind when they divised this amazing experiment in government. But if you want to leave this great country simply because your candidate lost the election...DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU IN THE ASS AS YOU'RE LEAVING!

 | PTRoxieMisha (3) 08/23/2004 | Very good, but he needs to be in better films. Since like 1999, most of the movies he's been in really stunk! (With the exception of 2004's Godsend, but even that wasn't exactly that great.)

 | Jimbo04 (0) 07/25/2004 | He's not too bad an actor. Meet the Parents is the only movie i have seen him in recent memory that he doesn't swear every four words he says.

 | Lilly Anne May (0) 07/05/2004 | Robert De Niro is NOT overated. He is a great actoer. I loved him in Casino and Good Fellas. I also loved him in Meet the Parents. He can play so many different roles. So what if he has been in a few movies that weren't so good, he still acted well in them.
(3 voted this helpful, 0 funny and 0 agree) |
 | Protege (0) 07/01/2004 | Deniro is overrated. Most of the movies I've seen of him stink. The worst of them being Raging Bull. I've tried to like him and still dont understand what all the hype is. He is good in the mafia roles - it suits him and he always pulls it off. He was good in Goodfellas and Casino but that's about it. Sometimes his acting can be dull and I don't see what's so good about it. He is a decent actor but not a great one.
(0 voted this helpful, 0 funny and 0 agree) |
 | wiley1827 (0) 06/14/2004 | He's fun to watch just standing in a phone booth. He has no judgment about which roles to take - he accepts them all and it shows. But I think he's a kick. I like him being menacing. Sometimes complex sometimes simple. He's intersting but overexposed.
(2 voted this helpful, 0 funny and 0 agree) |
 | trevor3 (0) 05/19/2004 | It seems to be a criminal offence these days to say a bad word about De Niro. This is despite the fact he has made just one gd movie in the last 10 years. Having said that, his earlier movies were great.

 | Working-Class_Hero (0) 05/17/2004 | 100 of roles and characters and movies would have been really silly .. but because of that gentelman it made sence and even touched us ... once he is so damn straight tough guy you almost get scared to look into his eyes ! and once he is so funny like you wish that the movie never ends .. born with a talent is a perfect description for Robert DeNiro
