If I lived there my wedding vow would read: 

I offer you my solemn vow to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow. I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals, to honor and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you, and to cherish you for as long as you grant me the permission to wear false teeth if I ever lose my ability to scream my heart out at the law makers of Vermont.

I'm guessing some legislator got bitten in an inopportune spot during an intimate marital moment.

What if she doesn't have a husband? What if he's already dead? Is she to be damned to mashed potatoes and apple sause for the rest of her life ...or get married just to find someone in order to obtain permission to get them? I know why a man would say this... some of them are scared of teeth for reasons that i will not mention on this list... but I really wonder if most women at the stage in their lives where they need false teeth will still be preforming such favours... or if men at that age will be able to benefit from them...

Does she then need further permssion to take them out and set them in his chair sharp side up. Sheesh! (And to think the idjit who dreamed that one up was once actually in a position of authority of some kind!)

Again, a law that says that man is the head of the house and the woman must bow to him, can't make any decisions without him, and it's getting old.

The only thing I can say to this is: My husband will never give me permission to do anything. If he doesn't like it, he can leave! No one tells me what I can and cannot do.

i would give my toothless wife a notarized document to carry with her indicating my consent concerning the wearing of her false teeth. i would have thought that women would need written permission NOT to wear false teeth. eew.
