Nothing supernatural or scary about pit bulls.  A better (and scarier) idea would be to have all the dogs in the neighborhood suddenly become vicious killers and no one knows why.  Chihuahuas taking off people's fingers and killing babies, packs of labradors chasing down kids on bikes...

I liked the one about the pickpocket dachshunds, myself...
