Another deep playoff run in the near future puts him up on the top level of quarterbacks.

The Ben Roethlisberger story is my proof of the following: in the right system with the right coaches so many of the NFL Flameouts could have made it. If Big Ben had gone somewhere else he wouldn't have the success he's had this early in his career. I liked him coming out of college, but you have to give his coaches a lot of credit for not making him shoulder the team like so many other teams would have (David Carr in Houston, Joey Harrington in Detroit). I will GUARANTEE that when Kurt Warner goes down Arizona will have wished they invested more in their offensive line as pretty-boy Leinart will look like he really is: a rookie. Hats off to Bill Cowher for the construction of this offense.

Ben is awesome! He is going to be the next Terry Bradshaw!

Ben Roethlisberger had a season where the number one ranked defense, complete with 4 Pro Bowlers, won games for him and the number two ranked rushing game, lead by Pro Bowler Jerome Bettis, carried most of the offensive load. His stats weren't that great with the exception of accuracy, and he had three great recievers to throw to, including Pro Bowler Hines Ward and former Pro Bowl return man Antoine Randel El. He also had one of the best o-lines blocking for him, including Pro Bowlers Jeff Hartings and Marvel Smith as well as Pro Bowl Starter Alan Faneca. Despite the great year last year, he's not proven and over-rated for what little he has done. I like his personality though and I do think some day he will be good, but it'll be a while before we can tell if he's even great. It wasn't like he turned the Steelers around or something, Big Ben was handed a team that was as playoff ready as it gets. Hell, in case you couldn't catch on from the general theme of this post, they had nine Pro Bowlers playing for them and not surprisingly Ben wasn't one of them. Most of those guys would probably have made the Pro Bowl even if Roethlisberger was never there. Plus, by the end of the season teams had figured out that he was very susceptible to a controlled zone blitz, which would leave one to believe he doesn't have as good of vision and poise and everyone claims. He was very human his last several games because of it, and we'll have to wait and see if he can buck that trend. For right now, I'm rating him as merely average. UPDATE: I'm still rating him as average, even after winning the SuperBowl. He might have been on the winning side, but he very quietly had one of the worst SuperBowl performances in history. Big Ben finished with just 123 yards, was 9 out of 21 (42.8% completion rate), and threw no touchdowns and two interceptions. To give you an idea of how bad that really is, he had a QB Rating of 22.6 on the game. If you throw nothing but incomplete passes, you'll get a 39.6 rating. Big Ben ran in that touchdown though, right? No, he didn't. It sure as hell didn't look like he did, and he himself admitted he probably didn't. He didn't win that game... his team won it in spite of him. I like the Steelers as a team, but Ben Roethlisberger hasn't PERSONALLY done anything to impress. Just because you're on the winning side doesn't make you the best. Dan Marino never won a SuperBowl, but by almost all accounts he was one of the best QBs ever in the NFL. Pretty much this is the truth... anybody could take the Steelers to the playoffs with their well-rounded defense and running game... anybody except Tommy Maddox.

I love him. Did you see the Monday Night game against the Colts? Okay so he sucked and the Steelers lost, but did you see that stat they put up? Pass-rating for while being hit. His is 102 when the league average is 50. That is bad ass.

Big Ben has got to stay healthy. The Steelers really hurt without him.

Peyton Manning hasn't played a great defensive team yet, and when he does, he'll show his true ranking. Big Ben has played very well. Last year he wasn't quite used to the long season, which wore him out. This year look out cause he can take Pittsburgh all the way.. Big Ben is a top notch QB.

Ben was a breakout QB last year, and was a pleasant suprise to all pittsburg fans. This year however i thought he would collapse like a cheap tent, but has proven himself to be very good. I only give him 3-stars cuz i need to see a little more of him but so far he looks like a potential franchise player for Pittsburg and may lead them to a super-bowl victory....KILL PEYTON MANNING!

He is good as long as he doesn't have to do too much. Without that running game and D, I feel that his weaknesses could be exposed.

Roethlisberger will be a good quarterback in the NFL...probably a Pro Bowl level type of guy. However, he cannot repeat the success he had as a rookie in this upcoming year, and maybe not again in his career. He isn't as good as the Steeler's record last year would indicate, but he certainly won't be a failure in the NFL either.

Time will tell if 2004 was a fluke...

this guy is great for a rookie the way he would avoid hits and dive in the endzone, u dont see many rookies doing that
tojo311 01/07/2005
He deserves more than a 3's and 1's for being 13-0 in his first full season. It doesn't matter who is around you. If you are 13-0 you have got to be doing something right as a QB. If he hadn't thrown good passes no WR could catch it. If Tommy Maddox were in there it would be another 6-10 season.

The worst QB

Big Ben is the real deal.
