I had the lowest of expectations for this film, but was pleasantly surprised. The makeup and creature design was fascinating -- even as the plot kind of skimmed and skipped along, you could be amazed at the myriad menagerie of unusual oddballs. The characters were dynamic and somewhat multifaceted. All in all, this film stands up quite well in comparison to other "comic book super antihero" movies with stronger, more popular franchises.

I cannot say this loudly enough - this is a better movie than the first (and I really liked the first) and they took spectacular risks with it.

The Prince and Princess are top-drawer performances and draw the, already good cast, into greatness as they're given the means to show what they were always able to do.

The special effects might be a bit over done and,in one scene, actually distracting but it keeps the viewer imbalanced enough that you are never dully aware of what the next moment "should" be.

LOTS of character development and they didn't gloss over the more meaningful evolutions of our characters.

Its just wonderful. Easy on the eyes, heart and ears. Im going to buy it the moment it hits DVD.

Glorious, stupid fun. Your girlfriend will hate it.

Demon-child fights nasty-underworld beasties for control of the planet to save the uncaring and unsympathetic human race blah, blah, blah . ..

There are moments when it gets too sentimental- and perhaps this is really a three rating here, but I love the director's special effects. . .they look so. . .(searching for adjectives) organic. It's a wonderful mesh of other-worldly without being so CGI it looks cartoonish.

As beautiful junk-food, it's a four. . .anything else it's a three for being a technical marvel.
