Terrific actor, has done it all. Probably a little too busy these days for his own good. Was really good in "The World's Fastest Indian". If you want to see him in an intense early role rent or borrow "Magic" with Ann Margaret. Cool little movie.

Anthony Hopkins is the GREATEST...indeed an awesome Actor. Honestly no one can do it like him. His talents stand out in every movie he has ever made. As an Actor, he sells the plot in the movie, bring in the high ratings and reviews and not to mention a HUGE fortune. He makes the BIG difference in whatever role/character- a master on the movie screen. I salute him as the BEST. Anthony is a professional, who truly enjoy his work and thereby allows his gift of talent to be an experience for all.

I apologize in advance, but I just cannot connect with this guy. He does absolutely nothing for me. As for "Silence of the Lambs." the nihilism of that "work" is disgusting and an indictment on modern society if that is where we are heading!

One of the greatest and most versatile actors ever to grace the big screen. He is up there with the true thespians like Sir Lawrence Olivier. Can anyone really believe that any other actor could have played Hannibal? As one of the curators in "Hannibal" might say, "I think not."

My personal favourite actor and has been for many years now. Admired his work since I saw him in The Bounty (remake of Mutiny on the Bounty) back in '84. Decided to delve a little deeper and seen pretty much all his films to his credit. (Some not so good). Always amazed to see how easily he can adapt to the paticular role. The Lambs still has to be the best to date. Over 60 now and still sexy!

great acting in earlier films, although now has become a bit lazy/not making much of an effort re. selecting good roles. Loses a star for acting with the simpering and overrated Kidman.

I never saw him in his Silence of the Lambs movies; I was too chicken. I did see him in a couple of Merchant and Ivory movies and in Hearts of Atlantis. He is immensely talented and has great range. UPDATE:Raine21, while I agree that Anthony Hopkins is a fine actor, I disagree that he's the only man who could play Hannibal Lecter. I think Dick Cheney could play this role to the hilt.

Extremely great actor, and a very good man in real life. He spent his whole childhood being told that he was too stupid to amount to anything. His great films, such as Bounty, Silence of the Lambs, and The Elephant Man, have proven those predictions quite wrong.

Anthony Hopkins has to be one of the most talented actors of our time. I haven't seen many of his movies, but the few I have seen show that he is a man of extreme depth and range. He selects his roles carefully, and prepares well for them. He gave one of the most chilling performances in Hollywood history as Dr. Hannibal Lector in Silence of the Lambs and its two successors, Hannibal and Red Dragon. No other actor could've captured the audience as well as Hopkins did in that role. His presence in that movie was awesome- he performed so naturally, and the end result was one of the most memoriable performances of our time. One of Anthony Hopkins' other performances, while certainly not as good, was as President Richard Nixon in the Oliver Stone film Nixon. While Hopkins was unable to capture the Nixon Look, I must say that overall, he played the part quite well. It is quite obvious that Anthony Hopkins prepared heavily for that role, and he took it very seriously. The end result was impressive, and I enjoyed his performance. In the final analysis, Sir Anthony Hopkins is certainly one of the most talented actors of our time. He takes his work very seriously and prepares heavily for his roles, and the end result is always the same: a brilliant performance from a fine actor.

Anthony Hopkins is such a powerful, dynamic actor! He can be scary, sorrowful, funny -- anything. He was absolutely terrifying as Hannibal Lecter -- I don't think anyone can deny that. At the same time, though, you almost have to feel sorry for Hannibal. Hopkins portrays him with many facets. He's scary and clever but he's also lonely and an outcast. Anthony Hopkins is awesome.

I truly love Anthony Hopkins, as far back as the early movies such as Elephant man & Magic. He is a remarkable actor and wish that i can meet him in person some day. It would be a most memorable moment in my life. He seems to be very down to earth and a truly good person at heart. Thank you Anthony Hopkins, Loretta K Piketon, Ohio

This is one tremendous actor. He is completely wonderful at what he does. I was so scared after seeing his performance in Silence of the Lambs that I checked under my bed and behind the shower curtain for a week---just to make sure he wasn't there. Okay, I'm crazy, but if an actor can make you do that, then he must be great!

So far he is currently the best British actor at the moment. Man is he good. In "The Silence Of The Lambs", he took acting to a new level with his wide-eyed, soft talking Hannibal Lecter, and before that, and after that. In "Nixon", he was outstanding! I wholeheartedly give him 5 stars for being the best damn British actor around. Summary: THE BEST BRITISH ACTOR AROUND.

From the same patch of Wales as Richard Burton,in whose footsteps he followed;an equally commanding and versatile stage actor, with a propensity for wild drinking in his earlier career. He made his promising screen debut in the admired historical drama The Lion in Winter, but, his compassionate performance in the excellent The Elephant Man aside(he was touching also in the gentle 84 Charing Cross Road),he found few memorable film roles to match his talent..until his mesmerising, legendary breakthrough in Silence of the Lambs, devouring the screen, and human liver, with a scintillating intensity. He was much amused by the terrifying effect his real-life appearances had on the unprepared public- stopping off on dark nights at small hotels, where staff and guests were visibly aghast at sharing space with Hannibal. From then on he seemed unstoppable, following up with more remarkable work in the fine British dramas Howard's End,The Remains of the Day,and Shadowlands. He was compelling as Nixon, and as John Quincy Adams in Amistad.Though there were occasional glimpses of ham in films he took less seriously,he lit up the enjoyable swashbuckler The Mask of Zorro with his riveting presence, gloriously nonchalant in the training scenes with Banderas, then ever-so-tender towards his compatriot turned fellow Mexican,Catherine Zeta Jones. In the extraordinary Titus,he was back in Shakespeare, filling the part of Emperor with a richness few of his contemporaries could match.A great career, and rightly placed with De Niro at the top of this list.
