Maurice Benard is my favorite soap star. He portrays Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital. Maurice is handsome, charismatic and his smile is seductive. All of his attributes are also seen in the enigmatic character he portrays on the show .I am thrilled every day that I see Sonny on my TV screen. Because of his talent Maurice has made Sonny the most prominent character on GH.

Maurice is the reason I watch GH. He's handsome, funny, talented and portrays his character very well on the show. Is he the greatest actor in the world? of course not, he's on a soap... but he's certainly perfect for this great role.

He can only do Sonny, and that is half ass at best. He isn't an actor, he's a soap player. Put him in something else and watch him sink like a stone. To me that isn't being a great actor.

Maurice Benard used to have good acting skills and good looks. now he's getting older and he's been around for a really long time, and his character shows no light moments. sonny used to be the bad guy with the charm.......now the charm's gone. vanished. so all we have left here is a bad guy being portrayed as if he's a hero or something. and now that sonny and emily are involved.......it's sick. emily is young enough to be sonny's daughter. sonny literally watched emily grow up. it's sick!! and not to m ention the betrayal on emily's part. Sonny stole AJ's son and contributed to AJ's downfall which led him to die. i have lost all respect for maurice benard for doing this emily and sonnystoryline. at least if u want some controversy......bring up the controversial topics like the fact that Sonny pretty much killed AJ and stole his son, and that sonny is a freakin' old man with a young little girl. (i dont care how old natalia livingston is, we're loyal amber tamblyn fans too and i cant picture amber with maurice). at least those topics should be brought up.

Maurice Benard is a great actor. I do like him on GH, but sometimes his character can be a jerk and nasty, but MB always brings it to the table when it comes to his acting.

Maurice is fantastic as Sonny Corinthos the brooding mobster because he has the dexterity to layer his character with sensitivity while keeping him complex and intense. Maurice also has a personal aura of sensuality that he brings to his character. With his great looks and talent is it any wonder that Maurice Benard is the lightning Rod of General Hospital!

Maybe at one time he had some appeal, but now he doesn't even bother to memorize his lines.

Breezed by Lucy & Desi/Before The Laughter yesterday.The laughter was at that talking baboon Benard's acting.It is no surprise that he landed back on soaps after doing such a joke of a part like that.I was a great fan of Desi Arnaz and I find it truly sad that they chose such an untalented clown like Benard to portray him.

I think Sonny showed a lot of warm feelings towards Carly durning her break down & towards Michael helping him cope with Carly's break down. I just saw Maurice as Desi Arneiz in "Before the Laughter" about Lucllie Ball & Desi. He was great as I was watching the movie & watching Maurice I felt like I was really watching Desi himself. I always watched Lucy & desi in I Love Lucy tv show & Maurice was so much like Desi Iam sure he studied charater he played very well. I would love to see Sonny & Jason turn out to be under cover FBI's that would kill Durant Rick would be happy Max would be surprized along with Alan & Monica thank you bye now Linda

Greetings!! After watching GH back in the early eighties I thought I would never like an actor or actress better than Robert Scorpio. But having stopped watching for over a decade I was really down and one day got caught up in the "great friends" portrayal of Sonny and Jason.... I ended up getting hooked once again from 1998-2003. (Although I stopped in late '03 I still have almost every episode of '04).Well anyway, I just tuned in today and I once again come to the same conclusion as I did before.. There IS NO ACTOR BETTER than MAURICE BENARD!! Plus, He is a classy person in real life. His acting with Steve Burton ( another 5 star person/actor ) and Carly ( Tamara Braun ), ETC..... was beyond superb. People who cannot see that are only looking at storylines not the individual actors talents. SWR

This man has almost singlehandedly driven GH into the swamp with his mumbling,untalented daily presence.I wish they would backburner his character.This show revolves around him and he is a lousy actor.

To Maurice: I have been a fan of GH for a long time. You have brought a character to life, that is as interesting as Robert Scorpio. Please do not let your character become mundane! Your acting has only gotten better over the years at GH, I realize this protrayl is easy for you, because you draw on your own experiences to give Sonny his own personality. Don't forget people change and mature, Sonny needs to keep doing this to keep the audince attention. Reese, was a good counterpart to Sonny, I hope they keep the character. For all your work to bring Manic Depression to the forefront and the help you have given to so many, my congratulations, not everyone would be so forthcoming especially, in your position! Oh, about that green shirt, I presume they thought Ric was going to lose Sonny in the flood, otherwise, there would of been no reason to have woren it! It fit great though! Maurice is the reason I watch GH. I adore Steve, too, but Maurice....what I would give to spend the day with him! I was reading some of the bad comments people wrote about him. I don't understand the mumbling comments..I've NEVER had a problem understanding a word he said. Maybe the ones who think he mumbles either have a hearing problem or they are a little slow....or a lot slow. As far as him constantly reading the cue-cards...yes, sometimes you do see him look off set. And when he does that obviously he's reading cue cards because there is absolutely NOTHING ELSE outside the set to look at. There aren't any other things he could be possibly looking at out there...and I HIGHLY DOUBT his loving family is EVER there to watch him do a scene!!! I'm sure at times he does look at the cards...do you know how much these people have to try to memorize in one night? Maybe the 1-2 rating people should go on the set of GH for a day and see how things are done...maybe it would change their narrow minded tunes about MB. One last thing, some people that rate him as "bad" are refrencing Sonny and hate Maurice for it. News for you people, Sonny is his character....must be the GREAT ACTING that makes you dislike him! Maurice has never let me down in his performances. He is amazing and the most sensual actor on TV. Maurice has given his character Sonny has a real presence on General Hospital and he is a prominent character on the show. I swoon over the man.. He has this sensuality about him that can't be put into words but certainly is projected and felt ! I wouldn't have time to watch a soap opera but I watch Gh for SONNY and for Maurice Benard.

Maurice Benard and his ego have single-handedly destroyed GH.This show was just fine before he came along. I cannot to this day figure out how he won an Emmy. He mumbles in every scene. He has zero work ethic. He treats the other actors like crap. Maurice should have been gone from GH along with is boyfriend Steve Burton years ago.

Looks can only get a person so far. Pretty people come and go on soaps, but if they can't act, they sure don't stay very long. I also don't get all the mumbling comments. i think that maurice benard is one of the most incredible actors i have ever seen. how many other people can play sonny so perfectly. from his accent to his body language. he's the perfect idea of a mobster. i have read a lot of the comments and i found some of them quite disturbing. his acting is wonderful and those who think he's terrible probably never acted or tried to act a day in their lives. it's not easy to act and to act such a difficult character & always be perfect. if he was horrible, he wouldn't be on the show. his character is multi-dimensional character & is one of the best ones in gh. maurice has done a wonderful job and i can't wait to see more from him on gh and in other productions.
