Yes indeed, lady Jess Walton is wonderful. However, Brenda Dickson is the quintessential Jill, and rumor has it that it is only a matter of time before she returns to the role of Jill. Rumors are abounding in the fan community that CBS already has the ball rolling to bring Brenda Dickson back to the role she originated in 1973. The writing is on the wall!!!

A very talented actress on Y&R.

Jess is phenomenal and has done great all these years on Y&R. But even after all this time, I find myself missing Brenda Dickson. She created Jill and I just loved her portrayl of the character. I still can't believe it's been almost 20 years since she left the show!

Finally they are giving the talented Ms. Walton a storyline. It involves Katherine having switched her baby 25 years ago, so I'm not sure how well that will go over, but I'm thinking catfights.

I liked her in Capitol and she's been great in Y&R too. Looks like she could actually be getting more of a story line now. Talented woman.

I think she is the only actress on daytime to ever win both the best actress and best supporting actress plus the Soap Opera Digest Best Actress Awards. What more must she do?

....but, she just can NEVER really replace BRENDA DICKSON!!! I just saw photos of Brenda online and she still just looks great! I agree with others that she just had the ooomph to play the character, Jill, perfectly. She could be a little bitchy, yet still make you feel badly for her situation and her love for Phillip. She could draw so many emotions from the viewer. I still miss her! sewlomom

Jess is a really good actress, but it's only been in the past 2 years that they've done a decent job with her storyline. Love the way she looked for her real mother and how her enemy, Kay, turned out to be bio mom.

Jess has really grown on me in the last few years....perhaps it is having more air time and storyline material. She plays well with Katherine and most of the men too.

Jess is looking tooo old and not sexy for the part of Jill. Wish good Old William Bell would bring back the Orig Jill...the One and Only Jill.... BRENDA DICKSON !!! The story line of Jill is the Pitts and people are Very Tired Of Jill. I bet the RATE'S WOULD BE SKY HIGH IF Brenda Dickson came back to Y & R. William Bell Blew it when he lost Ms. Dickson. Hey.... I agree, there will NEVER be another Brenda Dickson, the evil and hate just poured out of her playing Jill and with Katherine. Jesse is an OK actor in this part, but in all this time she still has not come up to that level, though I am sure she tries. Why did Brenda Dickson leave the show in the first place??

Jess is about 56 and a very versatile actress. She has done a good job this year because her storyline has been front burner. This is the first time I've seen her have Emmy material.

To settle this once and for all there is no comparrison between Jess Walton and Brenda Dickson. First, Jess Walton has no talent period. All she can do is frown, grunt, and yell. Brenda Dickson brought grace, style, and versatility to the role of Jill. People would tune in everyday just to see what she was wearing. The chemistry between her and Jene Cooper was electrifying. They could just stand in the same room and sparks would fly. I hate to say this but I agree, even Deborah Adair would have been a better replacement for Brenda. I still hope one day Brenda will return to the role that was made for her. She is the one and only Jill Abbott. Jess Walton needs to crawl in a hole and stay there.

For all the Y&R watchers who can't get over Brenda, let's just say that Jess Walton has more than earned her spot. She is the only Jill and by far the best actress in the role. She can switch emotions on a dime and make you like her even when Jill is being her worst. JW rocks and I would really like to know how she looks so damn good at the age of 57!

An actress can only show her true colors and talents when she is given a good storyline. Finally, Jill is on the front burner and Jess is doing a magnificent job. Always loved her fights with Kay. Deborah Adair was good too as Jill.

In my opinion and those who remember well, Brenda Dickson brought a vixen quality to Jill that oozed sexuality. Jess Walton is a good actress but I don't think she was ever right for this role and never will. I just wish the producers had left Brenda alone and let her do her work. When it comes to the debate over who was right, I think that I tend to believe Brenda over the producers.

Are you kidding. Walton is the pivotal character on Y&R. She is so much better than anyone else on the show that there is no comparison.

There is no comparison between Jess Walton and Brenda Dickson, the original Jill. Brenda had it all, she was sexy, yet vulnerable. She could portray a myriad of emotions. Jess reminds me of a man in drag and maintains the same "affect" day after day in tired style. The character development of Jill came to a screeching halt when Jess took over the part. Even Deborah Adair would have been better. There are still many people out there that remember Brenda Dickson and still hope that someday she'll return to the part that was written for her.

Sorry, but Jill is probably the most disposable main character on this show. All she is good for is complaining to Jack. As far as Jess's work... well, it's a stupid character. Jess Walton may have acting potential, but it certainly isn't going to be found in Jill.

No one tops Brenda Dickson in this role. The original Jill had it all. Jess was good in her role in "Capitol" though.
