I'm sorry to say that Karen Robards has slipped in my rating system from an 8 to a 7. Even though her stories are memorable and the bedroom scenes are realistically very hot, the problem comes in with her historical novels. If you read a lot of them (I've probably read at least 16), you'll see that she writes the same story, over and over and over. For some reason, she has a fetish for men who've been mistakenly imprisoned (though they're really nobility, of course), whipped to the point of permanent scarring, and then purchased as slaves by an unappreciated spinster whom they then seduce. It gets old, trust me. Her contemporary novels, on the other hand, are quite good. I avoid the suspense ones, since I don't care for that genre, but the romances are excellent. So, once you've read a historical one or two, stick to the modern ones and you'll probably like Karen Robards a lot. :-)

I just finished reading Loving Julia and I absolutely loved it. That was one of the best books I have read in so long! I just couldn't put it own!
