 | callitdowntheline75 (73) 07/31/2008 | Most people forget he has bravely fought everyone in front of him, never ducking the challenge. And win or lose, Erik 'El Terrible' Morales was always a warrior. In his prime, this great fighter from Tijuana arguably had the best combination of speed and power (in both hands), winning championships from super bantamweight to junior lightweight. Furthermore, El Terrible fought in the greatest fights in his weight classes in his generation, as his battles with Marco Antonio Barrera and Manny Pacquiao literally redefined the meaning of trilogy in these respective rivalries. In any case, the classy Morales is a lock for Canastota, New York when the International Boxing Hall of Fame officially beckons him (along with Barrera and Pacquiao).

 | rainmakerph (0) 04/17/2007 | I haven't seen most of his fight but his record tells a tall story of how great a fighter he was. He may come across a better man in the ring in the form of Pacquiao but his heart remains that of a true honorable fighter. Unlike Barrera who avoided a Pacquaio rematch long before the contract issues, Erik seeks out a rematch until he is finally convinced that he has met a greater man than he is.
The no. 1 gesture he gave Pacquiao on his last fight with the latter signifies a true character many sportsman may not have - a TRUE PROFESSIONAL SPORTSMAN!

 | jaywilton (31) 06/09/2005 | Morales is the complete package.His two
well, career losses to Marco Antonio Barerra could've gone his way.Usually,I'm partial to fighters from previous eras. But the Morales-Barerra series-three title wars in three different weight classes, would be my pick for the best three fight series,so far.

 | TheEvilSaintEvan (0) 11/16/2004 | hes a warrior. he has no flaws as a fighter. hes got power, speed, technique, stamina, skills, strong chin, good record against top comp, and was only beat by barerra. hes the best feather/bantam today, no question. even if barerra beats him in thier 3rd fight, morales is still the better fighter.

 | jiggajayc (0) 02/22/2001 | i thought erik was great on his rep alone, i had only seen him once before his fight against guty espadas. i'm sorry, he got beat by espadas.he almost got floored in the 12th round, he held espadas arm to hold on.he'll never lose a decision in vegas unless he fights the prince, then who knows which way the judges will go. he's a decent fighter, but not great.

 | Lee JKD (0) 01/15/2001 | I think that this kid Erik Morales has the chance to go dowm as one of the greatest ever to come out of Mexico. He has the desire, the skills, the power, and the charisma to carry over into the general public as well as the boxing public. His fight with countryman Marco Antonio Barrera in Febuary 2000 was one of the most exciting fights in history. Two proud Mexican warriors standing toe to toe for the entire twelve rounds and testing their iron chins and indomitable wills against one another. Although alot of people felt that Erik was given a gift decision, in reality it was a very close fight that really could have gone either way. One of the things that really impresses me about Morales is his candor and humility. He is the kind of guy you could sit and have lunch with and come away feeling you had made a friend for life. The big fight that is going to push Morales to the top is going to be with Britain's Prince Naseem Hamed. Although a very dangerous fight that he could possibly lose, I think that this will be the fight where El Terrible's ultimate tool-- his will to win -- will be the deciding factor as he gets off the canvas to KO Hamed in the mid to late rounds. Unlike alot of Mexican warriors of the past, Erik is unique in that he can box and slug equally well. Sometimes he tends to ignore his boxing skills in order to prove his toughness, but by and large, this is a fighter who is nearly flawless and who should reign as a champion at 126, 130, and 135 in the years to come. His next fight will be on HBO on Febuary 17 against yet another fellow countryman in Guty Espadas for the latter's WBC featherweight title. It will be a great action fight with Morales winning either on a decision or possible late rounds stoppage. So don't miss your chance to see Tijuana's own Erik "El Terrible" Morales as he carries on the proud tradition of great Mexican boxing and adds another notch on his way to greatness and superstardom.
