It took a man like George Washington to help establish the credibility of our newly found nation to the rest of the world in 1789. Honestly, I cannot see anyone else who might have had the ability to lead in the early years of our country, and had he been anything less than the statesman he was, I seriously do not think we would be the United States today. A man of great character and personal determination (and some political acumen), George Washington was and will always be the 'Father of his Country'- that is, of course, our United States of America.

Kept a book of prayers, wrote a prayer after becoming President.  1st President.
