Johnny Depp is amazing. He can transform from a nonspoken, queer figure of Edward Scissorhands to a rowdy pirate named Jack Sparrow. He is funny and is outstanding when acting. Possibly the best actor--ever!

Johnny Depp does tend to go towards being a "method actor." That gaunt face, the weird body language, the slightly lilting accent. But despite all that, he is one that I love watching. The first movie I vividly remember seeing him in was Edward Scissorhands. He made me so sad in that movie! He has this sweet side in films, kind of a look of ethereal innocence, even though he is a grown man. I feel that he really puts himself into his characters. For this generation, he will probably always be known as Captain Jack Sparrow...which is not a bad thing. But my favorite role of his thus far was surprisingly enough, Sweeney Todd. It was such a pleasant surprise to find out he could sing! Together with Tim Burton, he brought a daft yet ghastly endearing serial killer. Dark Comic genius.

Very convincing actor... it would be good to see him be the next Joker in Batman 3.

He may be the greatest maverick the movie business has seen since Brando.  Carefully selecting idosyncratic roles that play to his strengths and avoiding the sort of formula blockbuster fare that sank Nicholas Cage's credibility (who would have anticipated that a pirate movie would turn into the biggest franchise of this century).  His body of work is already one of the most impressive in recent history and he is at best only halfway through his career and his association with tim Burton has been some of the best work of both of them.  He's kept out of trouble, out of the tabloids, and off of the cutting room floor.  While he may not be conventional, he's become highly bankable without sacrificing any originality.

Love him, great timing, great sense of humour and ability to be self-deprecating at times.  He's picked some great movies and each character comes to life.. I really can't imagine anyone else playing some of the roles he's played.  By the way, I love Jack and he and Elizabeth should have been together :)

This greasy-looking, scrawny little runt is about the most talentless and unconvincing actor out there these days. He was limp in "Cry Baby," did absolutely nothing in "Chocolate," did little more than be a human cartoon in "Edward Scissorhands," was so embarassingly bad in "Fear and Loathing" that I cringed every time he came on camera, demonstrated in the Kerouac documentary he was in that he hasn't a clue as to reading action poetry, and when I saw him in a flick on TV one night I couldn't tell if he was playing a CIA agent or shoe salesman. The only performance of his that I thought was any good was in "Ed Wood," and he was even lacking in that. But, I guess he appeals to dimwitted chicks who go for greasy-looking, scrawny little runty types, so, he gets work.

I know that everyone thinks he is adorable...but he has terrible teeth and what happened to his cheeks? However, I will say I think he is a terrific actor when he is not playing sometihing from Tim Burton's imagination...

There's almost nothing to criticize about Johnny Depp. Great range of acting, always perform above the expectation for his roles no matter if he is a wacko, or just a boring character (with the exception of Nick of Time, terrible movie). His good look is also a plus although that worked against him in the beginning of his acting career, but with insistency, he's come to proved that he's not just another pretty face. 20 years ago, he was voted as the sexiest man in Hollywood, girls screaming wherever he went. 20 years later, he is still the sexiest man alive according to many and he gets my vote hands down. He is definitely one of the luckiest celebrities who managed to defy time. Bravo to Depp and thanks to many years of maturing has cleaned up his act as well.

Probably one of the most versatile actors I have ever watched!  To go from a pirate to a candy man, back to a pirate then a crazed barber ~ gotta love him!  Scissorhands was Johnny Depp as was Jack Sparrow.  Depp breathes such life into his characters, that when you see him or his pics, one of his characters comes into your head (try it, you'll see!).  What an absolutely wondrful actor who doesn't sell out to roles.

This is one of my favorite actors. Depp is excellent in all films he's in. He can play anything. He is going to be on the actor wall of fame.

He has played some of the more interesting roles i have seen. I liked him in Edward Scissorhands, the manufactured man created by a scientist who had scissors for hands. he was good in What's eating Gilbert Grape, and Ed Wood. He is not afraid to be out there with his roles. he was also very funny in Pirates of the Carribean. He was great in Finding Neverland.

This man can play any role, codedy, action, horror, you name it.
