 | trebon1038 (62) 04/02/2008 | Like DeNiro, he is a little stereotyped but I love him anyways. He gives me chills as a bad guy and in other more laid back roles, I always root for him

 | TeresaG (29) 03/09/2008 | While I love the majority of his movies, I think it is a stretch to say that he has a "wide range" of characters. ..And Justice For All was probably one of the few I saw him take an EXTREME turn from his usual stereotypical "mobster/bad guy" role. Even in The Recruit ~ while being a CIA agent, he still had the unlikable quality that is Pacino. Bottom line ~ he is awesome, I love him, but he is, and always will be ~ more preferred in the gangster roles.

 | orangeandrea3 (0) 06/28/2007 | This mans just a living legend if there ever was one. Second to nobody in the acting world he's just.... you know what? forget it! Its not he's not worth a review he just really doesn't need one his legacy does that for him so he doesn't need a another review from another crazed fan but I'm sure he appreciates it though. He's the only man to nearly upstage Marlon Brando (and that was his first major film!) now a days he wouldn't even struggle if he was still alive (by the way no offence to Brando he's another god of acting just not the top dog) he can upstage anyone anywhere even the great De' Niro. His best performances include Scarface, Godfather 1-3, Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico and the list just goes on.

 | Jeremy00081 (5) 09/12/2006 | I think Pacino is a little overrated, but he's great at what he does. His presence is not to be ignored on the screen...his dynamite personality reminds me of De Niro. He's sometimes a little too melodramatic for my taste, that's why he didn't get a perfect 5 from me.

 | DoorGunner (18) 05/01/2006 | His best movie ever was "Serpico," and it's been downhill ever since. Highly over-rated.

 | delbomber (3) 03/13/2006 | One of the all-times greats, he has sadly resorted to playing caricatures of his former self. It all started with his over-the-top performance in 'Scent of a Woman' and it's been all downhill since. Fortunately, for a ten year period and few instances since he provided some of the greatest performances I've ever seen...'Serpico', 'Dog Day Afternoon', of course 'Godfather' and 'Godfather II', 'Sea of Love' and 'Carlito's Way' are among his best. His transformation from righteous war-hero to cold-blooded Don over the course of the first 6 hours of 'Godfather' movies is devastating and incomparable, and is enough to forgive any indulgences (and paychecks) we may have had the misfortune of watching the past few years.

 | Gromit (2) 01/16/2006 | Al Pacino is an acting LEGEND! His acting ability will be remembered LONG AFTER he is gone. His ability to place himself within his role and character is flawless. You can FEEL the sincerity and energy oozing off the movie theatre screen. I LOVE his accent and inflection, as well. Just a PHENOMENAL actor in EVERY respect!

 | Empress Scorpio (0) 01/04/2006 | First understand that I am in my mid-20s and because of this fact, I cannot rate him so high. Why? Because now when I see any of his films, it does not seem as though he is acting at all. It seems like roles are being written precisely for AL PACINO and all he has to do is to go in and do what he is does best over and over again. I merely see two sides of him; the abrasive, weathered man or the abrasive, weathered man who is now vulnerable because he has been caught, dubbed or unseated. I will say that he does play the hell out of these particular roles. But I can't help but wonder how hard it has to be when the roles are those that doesn't seem to want you to change anything about yourself...just tweak it a little.

 | ma duron (62) 01/02/2006 | A very remarkable career. It would be so easy to acknowledge his stature by excluding the few occasions when, for whatever reason, his vehicles or performances were less than sterling ('Cruising'; 'Bobby Deerfield'; '...And Justice for All'; 'Dick Tracy'; 'The Recruit'; and, yes, his comic - misplaced? offensive? - pseudo-Cuban caricature of an accent in 'Scarface', I fear), but there is pleasure in recalling his outstanding contributions to: 'Serpico'; 'Dog Day Afternoon'; 'Godfathers 1-3'; 'Glengarry Glen Ross'; 'Donnie Brasco'; 'Carlito's Way'; 'Insider'; 'Sea of Love'; 'Heat'; 'The Merchant of Venice'.

 | FranksWildYears (48) 11/07/2005 | He is great and plays such over the top characters, but sometimes I can't help but feel I'm just watching Al Pacino, as opposed to the character that was written into the script. Maybe thatt's the price of fame and a little typecasting. But he's given some terrific committed performances, like the Devil's Advocate, Scent of a Woman, Dog Day Afternoon.

 | SamTheMan (3) 11/07/2005 | I'm impressed that everyone around here gave him the top spot. For some reason I thought I might be out of the mainstream on this one.
As far as I'm concerned he didn't have to make anything past Dog Day Afternoon to received top billing.

 | oscargamblesfro (76) 11/04/2005 | One of the greatest living American actors. Excellent performances in The Godfather 1 and 2, and did his best in the seriously flawed third film. Also great in Dog Day Afternoon, and several others. Has made his share of bad films, especially recently, but what actor hasn't made his share of duds? The only thing that bothers me about him is that the older he gets the more he relies on shouting instead of speaking. It gets tedious after a while, but that's just a minor complaint.

 | bhage2003 (1) 09/19/2005 | Wow Al PAcino is not only one of the greatest actors ever, he is THE COOLEST! People complain because they say all he does is yell and play agressive charatcers, but if you watch a good majority of his movies, people would realize how diversified of an actor he is. Just fabulous. I wish I could meet you in person Mr. Pacino. HOOHAH!

 | edt4 (99) 09/06/2005 | It took me a long time to recognize this guy's genius. The Godfather is one of my all-time favorite films, but I thought Al tended to play the same type of intense ethnic role over and over again until it got to seem like shtick. In the late 70's, his career seemed to go downhill as he starred in some truly awful movies. But he's redeemed himself since then, even though he's been in more that his fair share of crap and has a tendency to get hammy. But compare his roles in Godfather and Donnie Brasco if you doubt the extent of his versatility and range. In these films, he plays polar opposites in terms of personality and status within the underworld and he excells in both. Truly qualifies as one of America's great actors. If only he could find more films to star in that were worthy of his immense talent.

 | aikeo_n (0) 09/05/2005 | Al is an excellent actor and has a unique look that makes him stand out in the Hollywood Crowd. He isn't a teen heart throb he has been in the business for a long time. Al in Scarface was a master piece! Let alone, The Godfather 1 and 2 . He was the only good thing in Godfather 3. He was awesome in the Devil's Advocate. . . the list goes on and on!

 | Tornado (0) 03/21/2005 | One, if not the most versatile actors in history. Nominated for an Oscar numerous times but only won once. Should have won for The Godfather & Dog Day Afternoon. Best films: The Godfather, Heat, Sea of Love, Dog Day Afternoon, Glengarry Glen Ross. Worst films: Cruising, Revolution, ...And Justice For All (embarrassingly miscast in all three). Little known films: Panic in Needle Park (his first film), Scarecrow, Bobby Deerfield, Two Bits (all great movies).

 | Skizero (13) 03/21/2005 | an okay actor, but what has this man done of any artistic merit since 1976? Angels in America was a step in the right direction, but he's a weekend bender away from doing Scent of A Woman 2: Electric Boogaloo.

 | callitdowntheline75 (53) 03/21/2005 | Along with his pals, Robert Deniro and Meryl Streep, Al Pacino is probably the greatest living actor today. To say Pacino is a master thespian doesn't do him justice as his performances can attest. Few can evolve into their characters with such passion and achive such layers of depth as Pacino. And Pacino has had more than his share of memorable roles. From the morose Michael Corleone of 'The Godfather' series to his character portrayals in 'A Scent of a Woman' and 'Heat', Pacino's acting ability is unquestioned. In short, Pacino is an acting legend and Hollywood icon.
