Not so much a comedian as he is a storyteller. And the way he tells his stories, you don't have to wait for the punch line because they're funny all the way through.

I honestly don't know who wouldn't appreciate Bill Cosby and his down-to-earth observational comedy and performance on "The Cosby Show" as family man Cliff Huxtable. His brand of talent is pure, timeless entertainment, and without a doubt brings plenty of smiles and laughs to his audience.

He is just terrific. I was introduced to his talent as a child in the 60s when my parents bought his comedy albums. His ability to tell stories was so good. I could just picture him hiding from that chicken heart, or his pals Fat Albert. He is great at stand up comedy, I liked his video Bill Cosby- himself. His show in the 80s the Cosby show was good. I think he is a better stand up comic. pretty good actor. I have heard he is good in I spy as a dramatic actor. I have mostly seen him in comedy roles.have always enjoyed his work.

Hit and miss with some of his television shows. Asa standup, he was at his hilarious best when he was talking about the early years when he was raising his kids.

As a standup comic he is solid, probably 4.5 to 5 stars. As an actor he's a one trick pony and no better than 2 stars. Round it off at 3.

Cosby was Funny when he started out, I still have a couple of his albums,But as he grew older and I heard some things about his views on race, he became UN funny to me.

Bill Cosby's stand-up is ironically a FRESH take to the common routines that are laced with gratuitous swearing and crassness. Listening to him on stage is like listening to your grandfather tell stories. I have watched two of his shows in the last 2 years and they focus on the comical side of married life, grandchildren, medical problems, and growing old. This kind of humour is hilarious whether you're in your 20's or your 70's. There aren't many comedians still doing stand-up at this age, so his material is definitely different from other shows.

Bill Cosby is suffering from a good deal of over-exposure. Too much success. His early standup routines were very funny at the time and were memorized by many of his fans. The first two Cosby t.v. shows were great too. After that too much Cosby can wear you out. Also I believe any famous person who tries to chastise the younger generations (true or not) will just be seen as an angry, bitter old man. Five stars for his standup.

He's a mentor for all people and can make me laugh at any time. He is a well-spoken guy that I adore whenever he stars on specials and his notable shows.

Mildly funny. Good, but not great. He lacks the cutting edge that a Chris Rock, or Richard Pryor possesses.

Very funny, I like his stand up, never really watched Fat Albert. Alot gets said both negative and positive about him - I loved that The Cosby Show showed the possibility of living different than the accepted stereotype at that time. I also admire him boldy speaking on the contoversial issues of black culture.

I loved him on the Cosby Show, I loved "Bill Cosby AS Himself", he was pretty good as the voice of Fat Albert and he was even good at the Jello pudding commercials. Bill Cosby is bright and articualte and a man of character who is not afraid to call things as they are. Bill Cosby is a real leader in the black community, I doubt they are ready to follow him though.

I give him five stars as both a comic and a man. This man never failed to get a chuckle out me and yet retains his dignity, something most comics throw right out the window. His work of late is a needed dose of truth that many are not ready to hear.

I'm not a fan of his standup. I think he's a good guy, but his black bashing has gone too far. "These children will buy the sneakers, but they won't buy the hooked on phonics. I don't like the rappers, or the video girls with their big butts, and they don't eat the jello pudding or use the kodak film!" I heard he drugged and raped a woman, I hope that's not true, if so that would be ironic!

I like his Fat Albert character, but I hate his stand-up. When the Cosby show came out when I was a kiddie, I thought it was unrealistic, and so sickening sweet that I thought that it would rot my teeth out. in my opinion, The Jefferson's, 227, Amen, sanford and Son, good times, and AMEn were much better.

He is old vasion TV. This was back in the day when you could watch tv with out seeing naked bodies and hear cussing. This man was and is a true entertainer. Recentaly he has spoken up about the black community and how they are raising their children. It was not a popular thing to do but he did it because it was right. I have that much more respect for him. Truly a good man.

great comic. i'd rate him around 6th or 7th alltime. wish he didn't become such a sellout in the 80's. but his early stand up was extremely intelligent and insightful. i still am happy to watch him whenever i get the chance.

Bill is a master comedian. He can have you laughing until it's painful, and never, ever resort to anything that wouldn't be acceptable to any audience. The man is fantastic.

one of the masters still working out there today. the man isn't vulgar, he has no tricks up his sleeve, yet he still manages to knock them dead. in the movie Comedian Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld are having a conversation about Cosby and Rock noted how he caught Cosby's act the other night and was astounded that the man did over 2 hours of all new material, thus proving that not only is Cosby still tops at nearly 70, he's still a workhorse.

Cosby has the talent to get his audience laughing without having to drop curse words every other second. I also enjoy his wildly accuate observations about the African American community. Cosby truly is a genuine type of guy.

This guy is hilarious. A great family comedian, he doens't need to use vulgarity and profanity to make his jokes funny. I love watching him with the family and a lot of the jokes are what people can all relate to.

Bill Cosby is awesome. If anybody saw his townhall meeting with the Rainbow Coalition in Chicago this summer, it was so funny. He asked the moderator not to put Jesse Jackson on after him, because Jesse was going to start crying. I thought he was making a Bill Cosby kind of joke, but about fell off my chair when, not ten minutes later, Jesse Jackson (who followed Bill) took out his hankie and started dabbing at his eyes. I love Bill Cosby. I wish he had been as outspoken years ago as he is now.

Underrated as a standup comic.. Truly a great one..but not filthy..for those rating him low.. pick up one of his older albums... don't rate him on his TV career.

I wish I could give him zero stars. He thinks his crap doesn't stink & there is nothing about him that is or was ever funny. What's funny about a grown man walking around talking like a retard & making stupid sounds with his butt jutting out? His shows sucked too. He's an old complaining fart knocker & has been. The only way he can get any attention nowadays is by dissing contemporary entertainers as though he were Mr. Perfect. Go stuff a pudding pop up your poop shoot Bill! (His total lack of tact & class was displayed at The Emmy Awards when he was rude to host Wanda Sykes when she tried to speak to him. What a horrible, unnecessary & uncomfortable moment he created).

Easily one of the best stand-up comedians of all time, Cosby relies not on gross or shock, but on genuinely creative and funny humor. He can tell a story, use sound effects, and make fun of drunks all at the same time. Bill Cosby Himself is absouletly one of the funniest stand-up performances in the history of comedy.

I can appreciate his style which is very laid back, clean and neat but he's boring as h*ll. I saw him perform on a comedy show and he's a much better actor in my opinion. I liked Fat Albert though, that was wonderful work. Bill is alright, just not very funny to me. I think his jokes are directed more towards an older (much, much older, my grandmother's generation) crowd. The Cosby Show was also bland, I have never laughed at any of the jokes on there, but it was a family show that was needed to counteract the detrimental images of Black Americans being portrayed by the media. For that I appreciated him as well.

Why is it that all the people that gave Bill Cosby a low rating seem to have numerous grammatical errors and relate good acting to physical qualities?
