How do you spell tough guy? C-L-I-N-T-E-A-S-T-W-O-O-D. Eastwood is a great actor. Those Dirty Harry movies were awesome. Do you feel lucky, punk?I also enjoyed his performances in High Plains Drifter and Pale Rider. It gives me great pleasure to give Clint Eastwood a 5 star rating.

Never came close to being as good an actor as he turned out to be as a director. I liked all of his movies, but his roles always displayed a limited acting range, and he always was the same character -- scowling, rough and tough, unemotional, sardonic. But he floors me as a director and is way up at the top of my list.

Four stars for acting, five for directing. I think he was the John Wayne replacement when the Duke passed. He was great in the spaghetti westerns and as Dirty Harry Callahan too. Most of the other films until fairly recently were snoozers.
theman2992 03/08/2008
Eastwood is great at acting and directing. But I think he is better at film directing, he is one of my favorite directors. He awesome and he's the coolest of the cool.
Jeremy00081 09/12/2006
The only reason I didn't give him 5 stars is because westerns make me feel like going back to sleep, and he always looks like he's constipated. He's the man, though. There's no denying that. I'd rather hand wash Steve Seagal's hair than tangle with the Clint.
BigWash 08/12/2006
"The man with no name" "dirty harry" need i say more. truely ahead of his time. a great actor during the 70's and 80's. Cool and calm.
Torontosucks 10/26/2005
Very good actor. Just love the old Westerns he did.
Bcoble 10/16/2005
One of my favorite actors ever many wonderful films!
sivits403 07/09/2005
My hero since I was 10 years old. Everytime he'd unholster that .44 cannon in the Dirty Harry movies, you knew the bad guy was goin' to die! Guys like Clint and John Wayne, their movies you knew the good guy was going to win. They may get beat up, or put down for a little while, but they always come back, guns blazing! All American man if there ever was one.
Randyman 06/24/2005
One of the best all time actor and now a top director. When John Wayne died he was the only man big enough to fill his shoes. Did a damned good job too. No point in listing his movies, you now them all.
GenghisTheHun 06/15/2005
He is a great actor and a great director. He has mainly been in oaters, but he branches out often enough not to be type-cast.
CanadaSucks 05/25/2005
Better director than an actor (that's not an insult) Unforgiven is one of the best films I've ever seen.
Maomania 03/02/2005
He went from actor to director. And honestly, he did the right thing :)
dpostoskie 02/04/2005
He's a great director now....
rainer21 07/30/2004
Eastwood is a legend, and he has found another career for himself in directing, which I would argue, he does better than his acting.
callitdownthel ine75 07/08/2004
Clint Eastwood is both a great actor and director. Which will he be known for better is somewhat up for debate. But his performances are legendary. Whatever the viewer's political inclination, Eastwood plays the most unforgettable roles- whether as the Man with No Name in the Sergio Leone westerns, or as Harry Callahan in the 'Dirty Harry' series. Perhaps more than anything, he epitomized his own legend in directing himself along with a great cast in 'Unforgiven'. Long after the dust settles, Eastwood will be rated among the best as he rightfully deserves to be.

A legend
President -X-D 09/10/2003
Has more screen presence than 1000 Ben Afflecks or Luke Wilsons. Easily one of the most compelling directors working today. A living legend.
jamestkirk 09/09/2003
His spaghetti westerns will always remain my favorites with him. Classic, to say the least.
spygirl 08/07/2003
His time has passed.
OkieAirForceBr at 08/04/2003
He can do comedy, action, drama, and musicals. Clint Eastwood, even at 73, can play it tougher than any other actor out there.
iluvamerica 08/03/2003
Anyone can say, "you feelin' lucky punk?" Come on, that's not talent.
StanUzbeck 07/26/2003
First of all, I think the quintessential Eastwood art form is the Western. I don't really like Eastwood movies that are non-Western, and I don't like many Western movies that are non-Eastwood. I prefer his brand of revisionist western. The old John Ford movies, with the good guy wearing white, who would never draw first or shoot a man in the back, are merely fantasy versions of the old west. In Clint Eastwood westerns, by contrast, he is the hero by default; every other character is so miserable and dishonest that Clint looks angelic in comparison, even if his character is mainly motivated by money, and not above stacking the odds in his favour. He is the epitome of the lonesome drifter. Maybe he is not a very versatile actor, but is so likeable and charismatic that he will forever be an icon of American cinema. He has also done a lot of work for environmental causes, and is a good man. For anyone to dismiss him as some right-wing glorifier of violence is to entirely miss the point of everything he has ever done. Watch his Sergio Leone films, there is not a drop of blood but the violence is still brutal and shocking, which is hardly a glorification.

Really sympatetic! A true gentleman in Bridges of Madison County! :o)
Moosekarloff 06/03/2003
Crappy, clumsy attempt at an actor who's made a fortune glorifying violence. It's interesting that he's a rightwinger and his political bedfellows are always decrying the negative messages sent out by Hollywood, yet their boy Clint is perhaps the most noteworthy icon of mayhem worship in Tinseltown history. One of their own (include that other no-talent, Schwarzenegger, in this grouping, too) is a prime contributor to the problem they wring their hands over: just another example of conservative hypocrisy, folks. Eastwood has appeared in alot of worthless films and has directed/produced more than his share of clunkers. He appeals to people whose taste ends in their mouths. And he's a geriatric old fart already: he should have retired about 10 years ago. "Go ahead, make my decade."

Joe23665 05/20/2003
"There are 2 kinds of people in this world, Tuco. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig." The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. Recently digitally enhanced on AMC. Clint is the coolest!!
armchair jock 05/20/2003
Along with Stallone and Bronson, Eastwood is the exact same guy in "EVERY" movie. As I understand acting, playing yourself in a role, is "NOT" acting. An actor sounds different; moves different; and is different then what he is in real life. Hence, none of the three stated above are "actors."
hawkeye05 05/20/2003
I'm not a big fan, but I still appreciate him.
maggiemay 04/30/2003
Glued to the TV when he was in Rawhide. 'Go ahead, make my day' has to be the most memorable movie line ever. At least in top contention with "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn". He took us from Dragnet to Dirty Harry. Macho & a man's man, a gal can enjoy him too!!!
samson42284 04/11/2003
cool guy.
Alyosha 03/15/2003
extremely over-rated
KeithV 01/15/2003
As much as I love Clint's movies I have to admit that since making "A Fistful of Dollars" he's played the exact same character over and over again.
TimBSDCA 10/12/2002
An American classic!
acting_is_life _at_15 06/17/2002
Clint Eastwood is prolly the worst actor i know. hes not cute and hes not good at anything he does and you can tell he thinks hes hot stuff and hes not.
Solenoid DH 03/24/2002
Represents what I hate more than anything else in movies: violence! People who are entertained by watching people hitting other people, need to get their heads examined.
thornvv 03/20/2002
Among the best around.

My hero!
MedgarEvers 08/22/2001
In the old westerns, in "Dirty Harry," he always played the great sly, callous figure. I love his style. My favourite of his films is probably "Escape from Alcatraz." And for everyone who calls him "one-dimensional," I think he's been able to attack a wide variety of roles in his career.
MCC4 03/14/2001
One of Hollywood's most one-dimensional actors. He's the same in every film. I don't understand his popularity/
eBrain1 02/18/2001
A legend... transcends the movies; part of the American culture. .....

I'd like to see more movies like, Bridges of Madison County.

The outlaw Josey Wales, was my favorite. The personification of a mans, man in his films.
PoorOldEdgarDe rby 08/27/2000
If it's got Clint in it it's got to be good. I think there is just a point in every Clint Eastwood movie where you just kinda look at he screen and think "Goddamn Clint is the Man!" Okay so the movies with the Orangutan weren't that great (looking back at the time when I was 10 I thought they were great) but that's a very small number of his films. The Unforgiven was excellent.
