now this man is really unique..it's difficult to put a comment on such an actor...if there's 6 or even 7 stars then, he's the one to get it..such a "gifted" actor..he's the best !

One of the better actors of the last 30 years.

brilliant actor! love his stuff!
Spike65 08/24/2007
A fine actor who loses one star for being in too many turkeys. Probably due to his very high paychecks. That would limit the films he would be asked to do. I would like to see him do a few cameos for scale, like DeNiro does on ocassion.
GreggOrange 01/06/2007
Yeah, he is a very talented actor when he picks the right role and/or the right movie. I just don't particularly care for the man himself, he is one of those Hollywood leftist/elitist social progressive know-what's-best-for-everybody creeps.
kissmeback 06/24/2006
a very good actor.
White Diamond 02/09/2006
My all time favorite movie was Midnight Cowboy. Dustin Hoffman was and is an incredible actor. In fact I just bought that movie for my collection. John Voight also did a tremendous job in the movie also.

One of America's great actors, although he doesn't seem to have done much lately (I'm not sure that "Meet the Flockers"...or Fockers or whatever... qualifies as a movie). Had immense range and excelled at everything from heavyweight drama to slapstick comedy. One of my favorite roles was Max Dembo, the paroled convict in the unjustly neglected 1978 film "Straight Time", which was based on Ed Bunker's seathing and grim underworld novel "No Beast So Fierce." (Bunker, who had a cameo role in "Straight Time", also played Mr. Blue in Quentin Tarantino's best movie "Reservoir Dogs".) Hoffman did have a funny cameo in the last episode this past season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" that was hilarious. I wish he made more movies. Then again, I wish Hollywood was still making movies that were worthy of him.

He gets a five for "Graduate" and "Wag the Dog," if for nothing else!

His performances in The Graduate and Lenny are among my all-time favorites.

Dustin Hoffman is one of the greats in movie history. So many incredible rolls over the decades. The Graduate, Midnight Cowboy, Tootsie, Rain Man, and the list goes on. 5 stars all the way.
hello469 05/15/2005
Dustin Hoffman is a good actor and he was very very good in rainman.
Leesburg 05/02/2005
One of the finest actors of all time- ranks right below Jack, Tootsie and Midnight Cowboy are masterpieces of acting.
afn61140 03/20/2005
his role in Midnight Cowboy alone could have put him in my hall of fame
Maomania 03/01/2005
His best performance was in Rain Man without a question. The only problem I have with him is that I have the feeling he picks his movies by oscar winning performance possibility.
dpostoskie 02/04/2005
He was OK, until becoming an old Focker.
stlsportsguy 11/20/2004
Not as big a pop culture icon as a DeNiro, Nicholson, or Cruise because they often essentially play themselves. Dusty is the best pure actor of his time. His two greatest scenes take place at crosswalks. Ratso Rizzo's I'm walking here! and Rain Man's stopping in the middle of traffic when the sign changes to don't walk.
StevePI 07/13/2004
So talented and versatile. He can play anyone and make it believable. All the more impressive because he is neither handsome, nor does he look like an everyday everyman type character. I much prefer the old time stars to the present cast of mostly vacuous and banal wannabes but Dustin Hoffman is as good an actor ever. The airport scene in Rain Man is one of the best sequences for an actor in the history of Hollywood. This guy should be at the top of the list not the highly overrated and strained overactor Tom Hanks.
BlairWitch187 05/30/2004
Dustin Hoffman is great. I loved him in Outbreak. He was hilarious.
Ellie 4 JD, RW n GV! 04/23/2004
He was really good in Rainman and that other film where he dresses up as a woman. Oh what's it called? Someone tell me?
Ninobene 04/15/2004
One of about 5 artists in Hollywood.
Cosmo Renfro 03/16/2004
Dustin Hoffman is my favorite actor because he has played roles from a mentally disabled man to a woman! He is a total classic!
homer_jay 11/22/2003
I love him... he chose a lot of great film roles! :-)

The man can do anything.
Molfan 06/21/2003
I have been quite impressed with his work as an actor. I loved him in Rainman where he did a great job as an autistic man with savant skills. I liked him in Tootsie as the out of work actor who poses as a woman to get a role. he was also good in Kramer vs,Kramer, and Midnight Cowboy. I like that he has played a variety of roles very well. A versatile actor.

one of the greatest actors. he has played so many different types of people and he sure did an awesome job
ponerse 06/03/2003
Rainman is one of the best performances of all time. Dustin has had his share of successful films and roles.
NeskowinMorgan 05/12/2003
Go Dustin!!! i mean, what stunning talent. have you seen him in Rain Man?! OH MY GOD!!!! i could not believe it! he was very good in All The Presidents Men, as well. that is a good movie. Outstanding actor
philc 04/04/2003
What a wonderful actor. He is so talented and diverse in his range of talents - he makes you laugh and cry. From The Graduate to Tootsie to RainMan......he's just great.
uncleroger 03/26/2003
Great actor. Anybody who could do The Graduate, Tootsie, and Little Big Man is unique. Probably the best of all.
Neroli 03/14/2003
The most versatile actor ever to hit the big screen. Greatest work: Midnight Cowboy. Role I don't understand him taking: Outbreak.
qwertyqaz 03/01/2003
He is fabulous. I wish he worked more, but Hollywood loves the blockbusters.
cwhagen 02/23/2003
I hate his anti-American Speech
AngelofMercy62 01/18/2003
He was the No 1 man for me a few years back, Russ Crowe is doing it for me now. However, I consider Hoffman the greatest actor I have ever witnessed on the screen. Kramer Vs Kramer is up there in my Top 10 fav Films and his performance was outstanding. I could not imagine another actor in that particular role. Convincing and believable. An actor is only as good as the script allows, yet Hoffman can turn a bad script into something truly amazing. Wonderful performances in many many great Films. I bow to this man.
WildCoyote 01/12/2003
if I was a man defintely would take my hat off before such actor. "Rain man" was the movie that made me remeber his name, since than I do not remeber a movie which I got dissapointed with...strongly recommend to watch any of them.
lukskywlkr. 11/07/2002
Never really saw the appeal of this guy. He's alright, but to give him more than 3 stars would be hard for me. His performance on Rainman was so overrated. I still can't believe they would give him an oscar for that.
Jason1972 10/31/2002
He's pretty underrated and never really regarded as Hollywood's "A-list". But his acting abilities have held him the highest regard and his a very prolific actor. His best movies are Kramer vs. Kramer, Rain Man, and The Graduate.
UTVOLUSN 03/27/2002
Rain Man, Kramer vs, Kramer, All the President's Men, Hook, Tootsie, and The Graduate. If you haven't seen at least three of these movies, please don't think you know anything about this man. He is easily one of the most versatile actors of all time and definitely one man who can not be labeled as playing the same type of character everytime.
thornvv 03/20/2002
He is Ratso Rizzo.

A good actor. He has had good and bad movies in the past.
stooge 07/31/2001
Over the course of his career we have seen Dustin Hoffman play many different characters. And, I think, that is what acting is all about. He can take whatever personality the writer dreams up, with whatever handicaps or wardrobe the story asks for, and when he plays the role, we believe him. That is the mark of a true actor. He is not portraying himself, or the same basic part, in every film. He is acting, and we believe it. Few people in Hollywood have ever done it better.
T_Rex 07/28/2001
I watched a couple of his films, and i really liked him very much. Dustin Hoffman can really potray various roles, as well as expresses himself well infront of the audience. My favourite Dustin Hoffman film is Tootsie, in which he played an actor pretending to be a female.
HughJackman's "mate" 06/12/2001
I realized just how precious the guy was when I saw "The Rain Man". He's so incredibly talented, it scares me. The guy can play any part he wants, at any time he wants. And he's how old now..64? My god, is he good. He'll always be an inspiration, and I'll be sure to tell my kids about this man.
strongerthanth eboys 04/20/2001
Just saw one of his movies, Death of a Salesman in class. This guy can act, and I just love the name Dustin!
