05/11/2003 | Like so many other actors caught up in that "teen star" realm in Hollywood, James Van Der Beek seems to have a lot of potential which is currently being wasted in low-budget films and on "Dawson's Creek". I think I'm on safe ground when I say that "Dawson's Creek" has run its course. His character is becoming dull and boring as of late, and its time that the show be canceled before it destroys its reputation. Van Der Beek was awesome in the show's earlier days, but as of late he has lost his ability to communicate Dawson's feelings to the audience. Van Der Beek was also impressive in "Varsity Blues". If given the right role, Van Der Beek could go far.

03/18/2003 | Did anyone see Rules of Attraction with this guy in it? If you thought he sucked, I can't wait till you guys see him in this movie. He's supposed to be the pshyco in the movie....he should be this type of character in Dawson's Creek , he would kick ass!

07/30/2001 | I'm on the fence about James Van Der Beek as an actor. I think he has talent, but I don't like where the writers have taken the character of "Dawson". He seems constantly puzzled, depressed, confused, and unable to make a decision. I realize that many teens have these feelings once in a while, but not all of the time. I'd like to see the writers give his character more confidence and "spark". Then I believe we would see more of his talent. He is just playing a "flat" character, and that is not his fault.

04/07/2001 | The guy's awesome! It makes me sad just to see the low rating he has. I'd give the guy a 4 (he's not the BEST..but he's really good!), but that rating NEEDS to deperately go up, so I'll give him a five. Give him a break. It's just a show, guys, and no matter how bad some people think it is, he's one of the people that keep it alive. I don't care if some people don't like his character, I think he conveys it very smoothly and greatly. :)
