 | Drummond (58) 08/09/2008 | The watermelon are the best.
There is a list of final meals for people on death row. One guy just asked for a jar of jolly ranchers to suck on for his last day on Earth. Kind of makes sense.

 | edt4 (106) 05/09/2008 | Sorry, my idea of good candy doesn't include flavors like sour watermelon or blue raspberry. If I do get a yen for hard candy (no, not Madonna's version)...and I don't get that yen often...I'll buy something like Werther's Original. Caramel? Now that's candy!

 | notahater (0) 04/30/2008 | jolly ranchers are good, hard to chew, stick to your teeth, so it makes it difficult to enjoy them with you have fillings, which most people do. The chewy jolly ranchers dont taste good, need new flavors!

 | mj58jean (0) 03/11/2008 | Jolly rancher is by far my favorite hard candy. Only I very much miss the peach flavor. Been eating Jolly's for about 40 years and haven't tired of them yet. Out of all the flavors that came and went over the years peach is my favorite.

 | fractalier (0) 10/17/2007 | My all-time favorite hard candy -- use them for bribes in my classroom -- buy them by the truckload -- the kids love 'em -- my only wish is that they would bring back all of the flavors I enjoyed as a kid that are no longer available: Pineapple, Caramel, Lime, Dandelion, Avocado Rutabaga, Door Hinge Grease, Vampire Bat Guano, you know the real obscure ones...

 | MDStewart (10) 04/12/2007 | Okay, I've got to relate this...When I was a teenager, I had a black light and posters, incense and The Beatles. The White Album had just came out on the Apple label, and I recall me and some friends going and buying a box of Green Apple Jolly Ranchers. We'd kick back and listen to the Beatles with the incense burning and the black light on, and we'd have a Green Apple Jolly Rancher. Sounds kinda silly now, but I can't have a Green Apple now without remembering how cool that was then!

 | traderboy (25) 12/19/2005 | A childhood candy that was constantly getting me into trouble. I'd walk into Beck's (a local drug store), and there they'd be: five boxes lined up alongside all the other candies below the check-out counter. Dirt-cheap, I'd fish out a handful of sticks (they hadn't started carrying the lozenge-type yet) in all of those great flavors (cherry, apple, watermelon, grape, and peach), and I'd be happy until I got together with some of my neighborhood friends (who'd also been to the drug store). That's when the trading began, and the way we carried on, you'd have thought it was Wall Street. Regardless of one's bartering skills, we'd always walk away feeling we'd gotten less than what we'd started out with. The Jolly Ranchers were prized for their intense flavor and longevity, and no one wanted to give them up as often (which is when the bickering and hurt feelings would set in). Jolly Ranchers would also fall in and out of favor because, as our attention spans were limited, we'd forget that once torn open, you'd pretty much HAVE to lick it down to a nub (they'd never come unstuck in anything you'd re-wrap them in), which took upwards of five hours; you HAD to hold them close-by (their stickiness made them "schmutz magnets"); you HAD to develop a uniform "suck system" (otherwise, you'd wear a Ginsu-like edge onto them that'd slice open tongues and lips alike); and biting into them to hasten the experience affixed the pieces onto your teeth like Crazy Glue (and made the now-multiple edges even more dangerous). As you might imagine, I've since left the world of Jolly Ranchers as sour footnotes in my misspent youth.

 | frick35cr (0) 11/08/2005 | one of the best hard candy out there along with life savers probably. Don't however, try and bite/chew them or they will stick to your teeth very badly. Also, they sometimes get very sharp - a down side of their amazing texture and glass like smoothness - so be careful not to cut your tongue or mouth.

 | alpepper (21) 10/05/2004 | Unenjoyable candies. The sour apple simply assaults the senses. It probably tastes like the poison apple Snow White bit into. All the flavors are so sour that your face feels like it is going to peel off. 4 out of 5 dentists love Jolly Ranchers because they literally weld themselves onto your teeth, thus increasing their business. You need a pick-axe to get it off. In general, everytime I eat a Jolly rancher, I always end up regretting I did so.

 | cinnabuntawnee (0) 06/08/2004 | Super sweet, somewhat addictive, very artificial. All the flavors taste similar except for very slight tweaks. I think people buy these because they have slick, colorful packaging and the newer flavors sound so fancy and exotic (the tropical flavors). Don't try to chew these or else little chunks of this sugar candy will get stuck in all the cracks in your teeth and you'll have to excuse yourself from public to pick them out with your fingers.

 | Trix (0) 03/01/2004 | The superlative of hard candy (perhaps with Life Savers and Wacky Wafers, Bottlecaps and Runts of course): Jolly Ranchers flavors are sooooo intense and and soooo good and the shape and amount of candy is just right. Sometimes I see stick around too. Watermelon is the best!.

 | sk80rdiekid (0) 04/30/2003 | Jolly Ranchers have to be, no doubt about it, the ultimate hard candy. One thing that bothered me, however is Frank15's comment that all the flavors, except grape, are EXELLENT! I don't see how anyone could not like the grape flavored Jolly Ranchers. In my opinion, the grape ones are one of the best flavors. Oh, and the teeth sticking together thing, just don't bite them! I mean seeing as how they are so great, you should really savor the flavor and suck on them untill they are just a memory of delicious flavor and excitement. Enough said.

 | monkezuncle (0) 12/02/2002 | A mainstay but an overated one. I really like the tropical flavors and that somewhat redeems them from the one star they deserve. These things have the same texture as glass and if left out longer then a month turn nasty and stick to the wrapper.

 | CastleBee (83) 04/18/2001 | The first time I saw these I thought ho hum, just another run of the mill hard candy. NOT! These are probably the very best hard candies I have ever tasted. Very strong, distinctive and well defined flavors. They do have a kind of nasty habit of sticking to your teeth if you try to bite down, so you have to take your time and have patience with them. Flavor-wise though, they're tops. Each is so good, I can't even single out a favorite!

 | callmetootie (4) 04/06/2001 | If the thought of sucking on a peach flavored candy doesn't want to make you throw up, then I must be mental or something. Jolly Rancher has been around for years, and they have not changed any of the flavors. There are not too many flavors, just the basics, except for stupid peach flavored candies that make me have gas.

 | Frank15 (0) 03/22/2001 | Jolly Ranchers--the ultimate hard candy! All of the flavors except grape are EXCELLENT! They taste great and last long... especially lemon and apple. How can it get better?

 | Kyani (0) 12/15/2000 | How they tingle and the strong flavor. There are so many flavors to choose from. The candy lasts a long time and doesn't dissolve fast.
(2 voted this helpful, 0 funny and 0 agree) |
 | katswt (0) 11/22/2000 | I like the taste of every flavor. They don't disappear quick because you just keep sucking on them. They are long term and cheap, which is a good thing. They are also a good size, they are not so big to break your jaw.
(2 voted this helpful, 0 funny and 0 agree) |
 | akagi (0) 11/22/2000 | Jolly Ranchers aren't that bad if you like fruit flavored candy. However, I would not suggest it if you do not like artificial flavoring. It comes in many different varieties of flavors, and selection is always good.

 | Shroomwoman (12) 11/14/2000 | There's no doubt in my mind that a single Jolly Rancher could be used quite effectively as a tool of torture. It is capable of choking a victim or cementing his/her teeth together indefinitely. If sucked in a certain way, a Jolly Rancher can also serve as a razor-sharp instrument of destruction. The various "flavors" are harsh enough to cause significant discomfort (especially green apple). Unless you're into self-punishment, avoid these nasty little devils!

 | Spiralingmarce (0) 07/28/2000 | Hmm. Odd candies. Just don't bite too hard on them; they do stick very nicely. I hate having my teeth wedged together by a piece of hard candy.
