I would rate Bernie as probably one of the top 5 news male anchors of all time. So credible when he speaks.

Probably a nice guy but he lost all credibility when he hid under the bed in Baghdad during the first Gulf War. Arnett had to change his diapers

A third rate communist hack. This guy was worthless when he was on the air. He is much more tolerable off the air----and he needs to be kept off as there are more than enough third rate communist hacks in today's mainstream media anyway.

Smart Guy, Knows his stuff !
caligula 08/03/2005
if your wife was raped and killed... what a tight a$$
interloper5 07/31/2005
He's retired, get him off this list.
LisaSmall 07/21/2005
Mostly remembered for his courage during the first Gulf War (on the phone, under a table, still reporting while the hotel was being shelled), but should also be recognized for his courage in the early days of his career, when it was almost impossible to be a black reporter (much less anchor) on the nightly news shows -- and for his guts and class in bringing CNN out of nothingness at its beginning to the respected worldwide news service it is today. Bernie, we miss you!
sagerooster 03/15/2005
I wish I could give him a 0...He should move to France!
middlefinger 01/09/2005
He's an A-#1 news anchor. If he told me the sky was falling, i would believe him and I would take cover. He has a lot of integrity and he's good at his job.
fourdashsix 12/28/2004
classy guy
incfrtgn 11/30/2004
Class act. Miss him.
bushwicker 10/01/2004
Missed on CNN.

I could not leave a [0]!
LanceRoxas 08/02/2004
He might as well wear a hammer and sickle on his lapel. I will never forget his lugubrious countenance on election day in 1994 when the republicans swept the house, senate, majority of all state houses and governorships. He wasn't even that sad on 9-11.
jgls 12/22/2003
much better than his mediocre replacement.
tj92101 05/21/2003
Even CNN couldn't stomach his act anymore.
GHWBushFDRReag an 04/11/2003
Classy, solid anchor. However, I have not seen him in a long time...is he still around?
fuzzerson 04/01/2003
Glad he retired. This guy was horrible and showed what a coward he was in Baghdad in 91.
Aaron19761955 03/29/2003
Experieced and fair man!!
aswimmer 03/26/2003
This guy is the consumate professional. I would rather look at Carol Costello but Shaw is by the more experienced and professional anchor but a good looking female will drive the ratings Turner would go with the best, AOL goes with the bucks.
ellajedlicka21 10/19/2001
He is one of the founders of CNN. His reporting endeavors in the Gulf War are admirable.

Bernie rules!
kenharris8 08/30/2000
Why can't I put a zero for these liberal losers?
lips457du 07/10/2000
Along with Judy Woodruff, a completely biased news anchor. When reporting polls that say anything positive about Republicans, Bernie can hardly keep back the tears.
Ruby 06/08/2000
Biased, pretentious loser.
Munson 06/08/2000
When I think of Bernard Shaw, I will always think of him on the phone during the Persian Gulf crisis hiding under a table with Peter Arnett and another guy as missiles scream in the background.
PETE446et 06/07/2000
Besides being ignorant and uninformed, Bernie is a knee-jerk liberal -- but since this is CNN, I guess that goes without saying. The starting rating for CNN is a 2 and it goes down from there.
magellan 06/07/2000
Calm, distinguished - a very believable newscaster who inspires trust.
