Katie is great! I miss her on the TODAY SHOW. I wish she'd fill in on the morning show once in a while. Can you imagine the ratings if she subbed for a week? She's terrific!

Wow! Katie is being underrated here. As a journalist she has what it takes and is not simply a talking head spieling what she hears through an earpiece like many others on this list.

Compeletely overpaid....not a journalist and definately not worthy of the large salary! Her coverage on the inauguration, would have been better, if she had not filled up the moments with dumb statements like, "President Obama, is wearing a coat, because he is cold"...duh!!! We do not need to hear this ....it would have been better, if instead she had spoken about historical facts, figures on past inauguration. Nor do we care, about the dress the First lady wore, we are more concerned with the person that she is, as opposed to whether she looks good in it or not!

Katy has started to sound like she belongs on the Gossip page of some tabloid! Sorry! Stay away from Plastic surgery, collagen etc..!!!

I don't turn in to CBS for the nightly news with Couric, and I agree with most that she doesn't come across as a serious journalist. However, I found myself watching CBS for the Inauguration coverage today, and Couric did a good job of facilitating discussion amongst the experts who were there.

Should be hosting "Entertainment Tonight." About as tough as iceberg lettuce.

Lady you give me the creeps! What's with that Stanley Kubrick stare?  We were suppose to love you; why?  Because you're perky?  Because you're cute?  Because you're politics are oh so right?  Hey Katie do us all a favor and take your money, buy a home in the furtherest corner of Connecticut and never ever go on TV again.  Look you maybe the chief turd in the CBS toilet but you're still a turd.

The highest paid anchor cries "sexism."  I remind what Sam Goldwyn once reputedly said when one of his movies did poorly at the box office: "If people want to stay away, you can't stop them!"

I notice some posters have a problem with her liberalism, but that doesn't bother me. What does bother me is that she is a lightweight;she is not really a journalist to me.  

UPDATE: Liberal or not, becoming anchor of CBS News, was a bad idea. She is not a serious journalist;so is it any surprise that she is a bad fit for this position? She would be better off hosting an Oprah-style talk show.

Cute but not a news person. Entertainment reporter maybe. Her trip to Iraq shows just how bad she really is.

She is nice to look at in a large mouth troll (the cute ones) kind of way but, doesn't seem very knowledgeable and probably shouldn't be the news anchor for the CBS Evening News. She was better on The Today Show because its mostly fluff anyway.

UPDATE: Entertainment reports have it that CBS Evening News is dying on the vine and has slumped to third since "America's Sweetheart" went before the all seeing eye. She may be "kicked upstairs" and someone else given a shot. I can't think of this degradation happening to a nicer person. (chortle)

Katie Couric is only useful on TV showing her legs and smile... But CBS , again, has chosen to pander to an audience instead of doing what we expect...delivering th ehard news without all the bias, and editorialization. I cannot believe the things that I have read. Katie is a single parent who is doing what she does best. Why are we so envious and malicious in the what we say about people? Why is she fake??? Sorry, but a lot of you don't know the difference between being professional and doing your job and being fake. Step out of the box. There are viewers who would like to hear the answers to certain questions...she is just doing her job. Get a life and stop being such haters. Katie is fabulous and I wish her all the best in her new position as host of the CBS evening news. I'm sick to my stomach when I see all the disgusting things some of you have written. Keep it to yourself. Didn't your mother teach you that if you have nothing good to say don't say it!!!!!!Keep up the good work Katie.

I like Katie and enjoy her interviews. It's so sad how many people on here feel good putting someone else down.....didn't that stuff stop in high school??

Maybe it's because I'm a woman her age, and thus not enthralled by her looks or her overrated legs, but I find her shallow, conceited and embarrassing. She is phony and you can tell that she's a bossy bitch when the camera isn't on her. Her interviewing "skills" are awful. Dan Rather had his faults, but at least he projected some intelligence. And women like her, who have been told all their lives that they are cute, really do not age well. They wear skirts too short, too much makeup, and desperately try to appear younger than they are. How about aging with a little dignity ? - Diane Sawyer, Leslie Stahl and Barbara Walters manage to.

The girl next door is almost 50! Getting tired of the cute little me crap, so glad she will disappear to the CBS evening news! If they wanted a female talking head why pick her? Oh that's right, they wanted another democratic spokesperson to take Rathers place!

I agree with Tennisbabe. She is very personable, a good interviewer, I've seen her show compassion where it is due, and has great chemistry with her colleagues. I think she'll bring a great new element to the evening news. I think some people misinterpret the word fake with professional.
