I think Stephen Colbert summed up all TV news "personalities" quite well: http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/182106/july-25-2006/morning-shows My advice to you: if you're going to rely on mainstream corporate news for your information, you're never going to have a clue as to what is really going on in the world.

His inability to separate himself from polictics pretty much ruined the commentary for the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.

What's the deal with his hair? He looks like a carjacker with his hair so short. He is also a sorry journalist. I remember on September 11 watching the 2nd plane hit the tower live on NBC, and he didn't react to it at all. Matt sucks!

Matt Lauer reminds me of a kiss up nerd without the glasses. His personal political prejudices are very evident.

I love how Katie ended the show with Tom Cruise by stating glib was an unusual use of the word in reference to Lauer. If you consider that glib means lack of depth or substance or little forethought or preperation, I think Cruise was on the mark- albeit nuts on everything else.

Hairplugs!!!! But seriously, he will read down his list of questions and ignore answers even if they make the next answers irrelevant- it's like he isn't in the same room as the interviewee. Former cocaine addict.

It's not Matt's fault he has someone working with him who doesn't report the news. He actually is serious about his job. Probably should have been a candidate for Brokaw's replacement.

You ever notice how Al sits over there by hisself..alone.. while Matt is flanked by little Katie and the other one, leaning in towards him..flirting with him.. slobbering over him. JUST GIVE THE SHOW TO LESTER...please.. sorry.

Have to give Matt credit for being a good host of the show. However, as good as he is, it is clear that he is a conservative..or as others call him 'the bush baby', as Katie is very liberal. He may have his own political beliefs but he should just keep it to himself instead of attacking their liberal guests..like his interview with Kitty Kelley. It was really unfair for her to be treated like that. But despite that, Matt is still worthy to be on the show...

I've been watching his interviews lately, mostly out of boredom, and each time I come away even more annoyed than the last time. Who is this guy? Do people really think he is intelligent or at the very least unbiased? I've watched him criticize shamelessly anyone who disagree's with Bush, while he handfed some member of Bin Laden's family the answers he wanted. It's disgusting. Anyhooo...this may be just a rumour and I haven't had time to check into it, but someone just told me he golfs with Bush Sr. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Matt Lauer has one trick up his sleeve and he milks it for all it's worth. He plays the devils advocate. Whether you are a conservative or a liberal he will piss you off. His bias seems obvious until you read the transcripts. He enters every interview with a kind of pug attitude and voice of the pragmatist stance and never lets go of that. whether liberal or conservative his interviewees end up rebutting and refuting Matt's poor research built on hearsay and are not able to actually talk about what they are being interviewed for.

Matt Lauaer is one of the most obviously biased and argumentative interviewers on daytime network TV. He does not belong on such a quality objective show as the Today Show.

I feel Matt is very polished and professional. He asks direct questions and never allows the interview to get out of his control. Ann Curry is the WORST. And Katie can be tolerated because of him. Al Roker is another favorite.

Seems like a lightweight. If he had to do a hard news program like 60 Minutes he'd fall on his face. I had to stop watching the Today show a few years ago because Matt Lauer is just too vacant and vapid and Katie Couric is just too perky and cutesy for me.

Overrated. Fluffy. Recently read something where Matt was sarcastically bitching about having to do the third hour of today. If I ran things at NBC, I'd let the guy right off the hook, along with Katie for that matter. Take 'em off that third hour if it is so exhausting. Let Lester Holt and Ann Curry run hour 3 of the show (if not the whole thing). Better yet, cut off the third hour of Today altogether and give Lester and Ann their OWN hour-long show.

It's a hoot to see his early photos before he had his teeth capped and his other work done. I would normally give him a one, but he gets an extra mercy point for having to work with the vile Ms. Couric.

Matt Lauer is a real-life version of Willam Hurt's character in Broadcast News: a simpleton journalist who happened to be in the right place at the right time for his career to take off. In a perfect world, he's a weekend anchor in a podunk market; unfortunately, Lauer lucked out and became....well, Matt Lauer. Have to agree that the buzzcut does not make him look cool. Hope that deal with the devil was worth it.....

His liberal agenda is so transparent it's sickening. I turn on The Today Show just to see in how short a period Lauer or Couric can espouse their liberal views on the next victim thye question questioning.

I really don't like the guy but it seems that lately he has assumed an I don't care attitude, and I appreciate that. After all, the Today is a joke anyway. I prefer him to watching Ann and Campbell jockey to be the next Katie.

Did he win the lottery of life or what? He seems like he should be a home electronics salesman or something not millionaire journalist!

I saw him interview the guy who wrote the book about JFK and Camelot; Lauer tore the guy apart and was rude and insulting. He couldn't stand a guy writing a negative book about a liberal. Lauer is so pleasant when interviewing a liberal, but he, like Katie Couric, becomes nasty and combative and rude when interviewing conservative. Very biased liberal.

Possibly one of the worst morning tv show hosts I have ever seen. Very bitchy, and thinks he knows everything. And I HATE the new haircut, and I am tired of hearing about it. Him and Katie Couric deserve each other. They are so boring ! UGH !

Good soft story coverage. A hard edge journalist he's not & shouldn't try to be. Way too arrogant made remarks during some crisis that the people complaining about excess coverage were the ones watching it. Like we had a choice. This was a few years ago. Haven't looked at him the same since.
