Health Insurance-Can We Afford Your Program? If So, How? 4

I've said in several reviews over the year that I support single payer universal coverage. I think Obama is good at dodging healthcare even though he touts it. He was originally for single payer but now he's not. This 'reform' isn't really reform because the insurance companies will still line the pockets of DC/politicians/lobbyists no matter what happens. I honestly think democrats don't even want a public option, they just want to introduce it to make it seem like they are the good guys when in reality, they know it won't pass and they want it to fail just as much as the Republicans.

We can't afford to go without universal healthcare AND we can't afford the industry friendly plans offered by the Democrats.

Some might think - perhaps - that winding down the ongoing, for-profit wars might save enough to make up the difference, but that's not going to happen 'cause we see the same no-bid contracts going to the same crooked enterprises (with new corporate names to protect the guilty) that made out like bandits during the last administration.

Here comes the new boss.

Same as the old boss.

I think its becoming very obvious that the health insurance plan which currently has the most support in the Congress is not "deficit neutral" as the Obama Administration claims. At minimum, the plan will likely cost over $800 billion total over 10 years. Of course, that's merely a minimal estimate, the cost will likely be double. And it doesn't solve the problem with cost overruns and other inefficiencies wrought about the current system that only makes our system the most expensive in the world.

We really need health insurance reform, but the current "cash flow" environment needs to be remedied before any substantive reform is taken on. I would fully support a public option if we could afford it, most certainly. My concern, like that with the wars and the bailouts, is of the debt that's being incurred in the process.
