 | minkey (40) 01/21/2006 | Those commercials with that old guy who used to pull these out of his pocket, and tell stories to his grandkids about he used to get these from his grandad, and it took him like an hour to finish one candy...enough not to make me buy these - and it is definetely time to get to bed because I'm rambling on about Werther's Original.

 | Rafe babe (0) 12/20/2005 | I enjoyed Werther's Original since I arrived in the UK in 1991 from France.
I would like to share with you all my amazing discovery last week of one metal werther's original oval metal box containing one unopened plastic bag of sweets.
After looking at the best by date printed on the bottom of the box, I decided to open it and eat one.
It was delicious and as good as new.
I wanted a second opinion so I offered one to one of my colleagues who was fully aware of the date shown, and he agreed with me. He could not feel any difference with brand new ones. I have not being sick or had any digestive problem whatsoever since.
The best by date was May 1999.
If you find a box with some sweets in it, you might want to choose to try one before you bin them just because of the best by date.

 | frick35cr (0) 11/04/2005 | The flavour is amazing at first but I think the problem is in the texture of the melted hard candy once its in your mouth. it leaves a thick sort of aftertaste that makes you thirsty and, although it makes you want to reach for another candy which alleviates the problem, if left alone the aftertaste stays and is not so pleasant.

 | lapislazali (0) 08/17/2005 | Much softer than regular caramels and less waxy consistency. Werther's caramels are actually more buttery than caramelly and have a hint of saltiness that makes them irresistable. They literally make your mouth water! Perfect with coffee for an afternoon snack at the office.

 | cutegurl (17) 04/20/2005 | Dude, these things rock!!! The buttery round flavor spreading over your tounge. Pure joy. Okay, so that's a little overboard, but they are a very good hard candy, perhaps the best non-chocolate candy out there.

 | Lesley Anderson (0) 06/10/2004 | Please Help me I'm trying to find a chocolate Bar that is sold in Canada with
Butterscotch with molassis and chocolate.
A friend tried it and said it was out of this world, also uses it in many recipies,
but lady lost the name of the company that makes it. When I put it to Google to find it up came Werther's name.
Have to got this wonderful candy bar and if so what is it called?

 | pippa26 (0) 05/01/2003 | The original butterscotch are fine ,but the soft caramel toffees are TERRIBLE.There was only six of the whole package that did not have tin foil and /or waxed paper embedded in them. Threw them away after unwrapping them all. Ugh!! Never again. No website for Werthers either??

 | cathyb1948 (0) 04/27/2003 | By far the best hard candy I have ever eaten. The original is delicious, however there are no Werther's candies that I dislike.

 | monkezuncle (0) 12/02/2002 | Just dosen't hit the spot. I liked them when they first came out but the new texture is almost like sucking on plastic. I much prefer something that tastes like buttersotch/carmel and feels like it too.

 | Lord of the Waves (0) 11/06/2001 | Werthers lack diversity. they all taste the same as they all are the same. The liquid released is way to thick for the pleasure one would want to be having. While alright in small quantites, werthers are downright disgusting in large amounts.

 | callmetootie (5) 04/06/2001 | Werther's Originals deserve the #1 place on this site, because they are the original candy. They are the first candies ever made I belive, and they put tons of work into making these I heard. You have to make the butterscoth and then the coating which is a hard caramel with chocolate flavoring, and it needs lots of corn syrup. Hopeufully, this review will bring it up to being #1.

 | raincat (0) 02/19/2001 | I think Werther's Originals are the best candy of this type. Most others I find too buttery and too rich and they give me a sick feeling. But Werther's are just the right blend, and very flavourful and nicely simple. Last Christmas I gave out several of the nice gold tins of Werther's Originals as gifts.

 | gecko (0) 01/07/2001 | Smooth, creamy and yummy. If you are going to buy butterscoth or toffee candy buy this one. It melts in your mouth and leaves you reaching for the bag to have another one.

 | dcurry (0) 11/24/2000 | Tasty. The creamy, buttery caramel is delicious. Very sweet. I like the homey feeling you get, especially with the picture of a cottage house. Needs better advertising in order to survive against big time candy corporations.

 | trigger (0) 11/24/2000 | I LOVE caramel and Werther's Original lets you have one candy to work for 5-15 minutes. Its taste is simply great.

 | princess-brat (0) 11/22/2000 | They are good and you never ever tire of them. They aren't like the candy you eat and it is so sweet that you don't want it ever again for a long, long time. Plus they are small and pocketsize.

 | PoorOldEdgarDerby (4) 06/26/2000 | Creamy, silky caramel taste in a hard candy so none of the gooeyness of soft caramel. A great sucker.

 | upchuck (0) 06/26/2000 | Nice hard candy, half butterscotch/half toffee flavor with a nice texture...I think these are better than any medicine if you have a sore throat...

 | Wiggum (17) 06/26/2000 | An underrated candy. I'm not exactly sure how to describe Werther's... They're hard candies - like those little butterscotch things - except the flavor is closer to toffee or something. The strange this is that I don't like toffee flavored anything, but I like Werther's. It's an old-time candy that's worth a try.
