 | trebon1038 (65) 02/22/2008 | Even though all seem to be American, some are immigrants or culturally so.

 | brownie (2) 09/19/2005 | There is a book which has casting formulas and rules. That is why Amazing Race, Survivor and Millionaire all had 50 percent of their contestants are from LA or NYC. Their average age is 25. Over 50% live in those two cities. Of the people from rural areas only two were under 40 years of age. Most all had a token black couple, and a bartender. Casting has to be market driven. But, on the other hand, where on "national" tv do you see people from outside NYC and LA. On "Millionaire" they also had 50 percent from LA and NYC and when they got beat so badly by the "hicks" {WASPs} they pulled the show and created a 30 minute version with all local NYC contestants.

 | VisionDude8 (0) 11/12/2004 | why yes, that would be great! I've been wanting that to happen since the 1st season. It would add more diversity to the group, and make it more fun to watch.

 | CherrySoda99 (31) 01/07/2004 | Although I would like to see Canadians on it, it is an American show and I think we owe it to the Americans to let them have at least one good all american program.

 | brownin (1) 02/22/2003 | Great Idea!!! Since persons from around the world watch the program anyway. It would be interesting to see how other countries match up against the US in terms of eating certain things.. for example in some countries eating pig feet or certain insects is perfectly acceptable whereas in the US it is usually shunned. We would definitely see which country produces the "ultimate" survivor.

 | The Grand Kahuna (0) 10/30/2002 | It would be awesome to have people from international countries other than the States. The one condition would be that they must all have a good handle of English. I'm from Canada, and I would love to see Canadians, Europeans, Australians on the show. It would certainly spice the show up a bit!

 | LoneUSFullHouseFan (3) 04/03/2002 | With the international appeal that this show has, how could you not at least consider it? It would beinteresting to see various cultures try to form a working society. And I definitely know alot of Canadians who would kill to get on Survivor. The same with Amazing Race, I personally think that should be an Olympic event. We would probably get killed, but I would like to see it.

 | ezinma (0) 04/02/2002 | I'm not American so I'm totally up for this idea!
I reckon that if they let non-Americans join an American show, not only they can show diversity but: proove the existence of modern-day discrimination, attempt to break more barriers (cultural, language) to create a "perfect" society, give a new look (literally) to the game, and of course, give a more realistic view of reality (that's what they're supposed to do right?)
However, I don't reckon it's a good idea to join the natives wherein the castaways would be located. That totally defeat the purpose of having Survivor. They're not foreign to the land and has better chances of survival.
English must be a requirement. But it would be cool if they would not make FLUENCY a requirement. I had a Korean exchange student and they're not fluent in English but of course, they could... it would be cool to see contestants use sign language. It would be harder to form alliances. *LoL*

 | gunner217 (0) 03/18/2002 | Get a Canadian on it. It's the highest rated show in Canada, it beats hockey in the ratings. 1 in 7 people watched it last week.

 | Some_Fantastic (0) 03/03/2002 | Wow, there seem to be a lot of Americans who are quite full of themselves here. I'm from Canada, and frankly, I would certainly watch this show if there was a Canadian or two on it. I watched the first two, but after that, the show lost it's edge. Bringing in some INTERESTING people, as opposed to the young whiny Americans who are in such abundance, would make the show a lot more fun to watch.
By the way, just so you know, America isn't the only country in the world. It's not even the biggest, or the most populated. Give some other people a chance, will you, and stop being so self-centred.

 | benfergy (0) 02/02/2002 | Great idea. Just as long as they know English, there's no good reason why they shouldn't be considered. What's that, we should only let Americans in because it's an American show? Why not, by that logic, only allow people from California or New York?

 | otlady27 (0) 12/06/2001 | I think it would be awesome to have people from other countries on "Survivor," as long as they had a good handle on English, of course. It would be funny to see Europeans, known for being less modest and clean than Americans, not minding their body odor or if they're women, hairy armpits and legs- the "au natural" look of Europe. Plus having an American-hating French person would be very interesting. A foreign cast would obviously bring more diversity, attracting people from African, Asian and Hispanic countries and cultures. It'd be a nice change from the WASP-dominated "Survivors" we've seen so far which have been packed with whiny Americans used to being spoiled with running water, electricity, cleaning products, and grocery stores.

 | brookeg (0) 02/28/2001 | I think this might be a good idea in the future but for right now, how would they get past the language barrier if everyone didn't speak English? If someone from another country speaks fluent English, then sure, they should have a shot at Survivor. Imagine the cultural differences that would emerge - much drama. This would make the show even better.

 | spyregoddess (0) 01/21/2001 | Why not? Sure it might create predjudices, but there could alredy be some against members of different political groups, ethnic groups, etc in America. Also, we need a bigger range of types of people in survivor- more minorities.

 | Zarbon (0) 12/28/2000 | NO WAY!!!!!I have NOTHING against any other countries but when it'd be harder for me to become one of those survivors if they only have a limited number of Americans. Besides, some of the survivors might get all prejudice and stuff and that'd make people at home angry and then everything'll get all messed up. That's just what we need, an Israeli and a Palastenian stuck on an island together. Yeah right!!! There's enough problems in the world and that'll only create more! And besides the only really popular enlish speaking countries that I can think of is the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Great Britain. We'd miss out on the other interesting countries like Russia and China. So communication would be big problem. U.S. Americans only is the way to go! What would be really cool is if they had 50 survivors, one from each state. I think that'd be really interesting. But that's kinda off the subject.

 | kmalmquist (0) 10/07/2000 | No way man, this is an American game show, that's what makes it fun to watch! Other countries can come up with their own survivor show, they are just mad because we thought of it first.

 | PoorOldEdgarDerby (4) 08/31/2000 | I like the idea but I think they should A.) have something like 2 people from each country or maybe 3 so we can all watch as their even stronger than usual national bonds break down and B.) rig it so that an American wins either way, (just kidding)

 | Wiggum (18) 08/30/2000 | I gotta tell you, if I lived in Australia and they told me I couldn't even try out for Survivor II (set in the Outback), I'd be pretty pissed off. Let's get an Aussie or a Kiwi in there! Clearly the Survivor show has international appeal (didn't it start in Europe to begin with?), so why not make the diversity of the cast better reflect the diversity of the audience? Besides, by better catering to an international audience, the U.S. will be ensuring that its citizens aren't the only ones subjected to the mind-numbing effects of the show, thus helping the U.S. continue to successfully compete in the world economy. We must maintain our edge!

 | Shafty (2) 08/30/2000 | I like this idea, but I think I would be rooting for the US contestants more, kindof like in the Olympics. Also, would there be a language barrier that would cause problems on the show?

 | Munson (8) 08/30/2000 | Look at what the international spice has done for the Real World and Road Rules. Bringing people together from different cultures would only add to the tension and create more conflict.

 | magellan (179) 08/30/2000 | Diversity is great in most situations, and in this show it would make for particularly good TV. If you throw in a cultural aspect, all kinds of weird conflicts will arise - and conflicts make for compelling TV.
