I'm sure there are a lot of dead moments when the cameras aren't on them.

Editing plays a great part in the whole outcome of the show. We all know that film is more than just showing a story, a plot or a bunch of characters placed in a beautiful scenario. Editing of Survivor gave hints on who might be the winner, or what is to be anticipated. It also gives symbolisms, etc. on the dominanat theme of the show which makes it pretty much interesting.

It'd be nice to see a litle more of what happened at the beginning. How they got on the island and all, but also think the first survivor did a great job.

I agree, especially in the first episode--show us how the contestants were picked and the tribes were selected. Show more footage of them preparing to leave for island & the first interaction they had as a tribe.

Does this mean there would be no blurry spots on the FNF? If so, my rating would go down significantly.

They filmed for 39 days, probably over 12 hours each day. As a result, there was undoubtedly a tremendous amount of down time which we didn't need to see. We got a sense of it with some video montages, but not too much. Fortunately, the production crew did a great job of piecing the story together.
