I thought the purpose of Survivor was to "survive" of the fat of the land, to live in adverse conditions, to test your strength and agility as well as your mind and outlast your opponent. Hence, to be totally excluded from the outside world especially internet.

This idea is filled with logistical problems. The show is not done live, which means tribal councils have already been held. How on earth would the audiance be able to vote before the show starts? They haven't even had a chance to real form a fair opinion about the cast aways.

EXTREMELY BAD IDEA!!!!! That's what Big Brother did and Big Brother sucked. Besides what if they get down to two survivors like Kelly & Rich and then the people at home have to vote, it would have been NO big suprise that Kelly would've won b/c everyone hates Rich. It'd make it too easy to predict the winner and besides they'd have to switch around the way they air it and all and that'd SUCK! It'd be good for me when I'm on survivor cause I know everybody'll just love me but I think it's bad for the show in general.

Not a bad idea, but a TERRIBLE one. If this were allowed, the show would loose it's appeal. Not to mention the fact that, this would be unfair to contestants - who could end up stuck with someone who is lazy or sorry(Ramona), but cute or sexy(Joel) all because of audience input.

Problem #1: A big part of the reason the original Survivor show was so good is that the producers had a long time to edit the massive footage collected during the competition. This let them create slick hour-long episodes with engaging story lines. For on-line audience participation to work, we'd have to be seeing the events much closer to real-time, if not real-time. Do you want Survivor to turn into Big Brother?! Good God, man, get a grip on yourself! Problem #2: I'm way too lazy to vote for the President of the United States, let alone some jackasses competing to win a million dollars. Just let me sit there and be entertained. Isn't that what TV is for? Don't make me work for it. Do I have the energy to get up, go to my computer, and push a few buttons? Who am I, Superman?

In theory this seems like a good idea. However, in practice, it would be very difficult. Survivor is taped months ahead of time and edited to fit into hour shows. And what made the show such a success was the mystery behind who the winner was. A bigger online component would provide people with greater insight into the show before it actually aired, not a good idea.
