Yeah, the thought has crossed my mind that it might be time to pull the plug on this one. I liked the show early on, but started losing interest somewhere around the 6th installment. I figure it will happen soon enough. Jeff Probst has got to be tired of doing this by now, and once the host is gone the show will soon follow.

My vote is "aye" on this one. I very initially took an interest in Survivor during its first episode (where the gay-bob one). I watched a few minutes of the next Survivor, a few more of the next, then I never returned to even watch a minute of it ever again. What initially disappointed me greatly was the premise. I had the impression that the premise would be putting a bunch of first-world-nation white people (I fall into the category) who have no survival skills on a remote island, isolate them from each other, and see which one gives up the last -and whoever it is wins. I had the impression that the contestants would not be provided water or food and it was just a test to see who could survive the longest. (Much like the two Tlingit boys placed on isolated islands in the Aleutians as their punishment for killing a pizza-delivery person.) I only realized later, when the show debuted, that it was just a stupid series of competetions between two teams which resulted in stupid soap opera interviews, gossiping, and the most "unpopular" contestants being voted off one by one. Very dumb. This and the fact that a homosexual one the first episode detracted me from taking an interest in it ever again. Cancel the blasted show for once and for all, please.

The "new and improved" Survivor is pitting the races against each other. Can ya believe this ish?? I laugh at folks that think racism is gone in this country. We as a people, we as a whole have come a long way, but this dumbass show tells me personally that we still got a long way to go. If they wanted to go that way, they could have at least made it couple/family survivor. This ish is stupid...damn CBS.

Cancel this crap and all "reality" TV shows. God, Why do people like this garbage!?

The little I've seen has turned my stomach. Generally it boils down to a bunch of people having spats over something, forming cliques, and "voting" others people off the show. How lame can you get? Why do people like this? What has happened to our society that so many of us think this is important?

I've never seen it; never want to see it. Life is too short to waste precious time on viewing obvious, unmitigated crap. Problem with cancelling it is that they'll assuredly replace it with something just as banal and sordid, if not more so. Remember the days when TV had shows like "All In The Family", "Honeymooners", "MASH"...seems like just a sad memory now...

I've seen a total of ten minutes of this mind-numbing trash, and I want the time back. This and all the other reality shows are about cheap-TV. It costs the network far less to produce this dreck than pay actors writers and directors. By the way, where does anyone get off calling this kind of nonsense reality. Unless you're Robinson Crusoe, or the boys from Lord of the Flies, this is no more reality than reruns of Mork and Mindy.

I can understand one side of the argument, that of viewers finding it funny to watch people backstab each other and forage in the jungle for some berries (hey, it souds kinda interesting) but come on, Im done watching people scrounge for food and yell at each other about the proper way to fish with a stick. The first season was cool and new and interesting, but now, who cares? Its time for something new, like maybe a quality TV show. That concept sounds kinda familiar. Quality TV isn't dead I hope. Before long, theres gonna be survivor 25, Surviver 26, who knows? Lets stop it before it gets too big.

Cancel the show is the only suggestion I could think of to be perfectly honest. It's a waste of tube space... I'd rather watch professional tiddly winks, at least the contestants wouldn't bitch and moan and stink all day... it's all they do. I hope they all get really hungry and are forced to eat poisonous fruit (and I'm talking about the creator and producer here, not the contestants!)

Yes, PLEASE! Get this show off the air already! It was fine once, but now it's just repetitive. How many more of these things must we endure?! How much complaining about the other people you're with do we have to hear??? Not to mention they're not very smart. I mean really, have they not learned to NOT say how confident they are that they're not getting voted off, only to end up getting voted off? I really want to vote this show off. I'd also love to vote off Big Brother! Unfortunately, I don't think it will as long as CBS is getting ratings for this and because it doesn't cost them much to make it. It's just a sad state of affairs.

Yes! You know, I can see it all now. . .there will be "Survivor 32" before long and then "Survivor 75". Just let the damn thing die already! Can't people get over their obsession with reality TV? Just look around -- there's reality everywhere! Besides, how honest is Survivor? The people are "stranded" on an island or whatever. Yeah, right. There are camera crews standing around and the host -- where are they getting their food and shelter? Hmmm, maybe from the local Bed and Breakfast and McDonalds? Give me a break people, Survivor is as phony as you can get!

Yes! Now!!! And let's dig a few graves for every other "reality" series on the air while we're at it. Now while the "reality" television concept certainly did not start with Survivor, I do hold it responsible for making the genre as popular as it is. And the worst thing about it, and it's not exclusive to Survivor, but nearly all "reality" programming, is that the reality is nowhere to be found. Survivor has absolutely jack to do with survival - it's just The Real World outdoors, where cast members gradually disappear and the last one left wins a prize. If this show was worth its salt, the producers would see to it that there was an actual element of danger, i.e. injury/illness/death (Running Man, anyone?), and not the outdoor popularity contest it has become. And who knows, and I could be getting a bit ahead of myself, but perhaps cancelling this comedy of errors might lead to people discovering a reality outside of their televisions and their lumpy, voyeuristic asses. But then again, that would require a herculean effort to encourage actual thought/cerebral activity throughout our culture, whichh could prove to be a very tough pill to swallow to our nation of pop culture automatons. I mean, the very fact that Survivor ever could have and DID become such a success is not extremely flattering to the intellect of popular culture. But who said it ever had much intellect to begin with?

I have a newsflash for the people on here who claim they don't like reality shows! I am willing to bet you have been watching reality shows all your life and never even knew it, because the concept has been around long before Survivor was created. Does anyone here watch sports? That is a reality show. Does anyone here watch news? That is a reality show. Does anyone here watch Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Hollywood Squares? those are all reality shows. So for those who claim they don't like reality shows, either rethink your position on this or start practicing what you preach.

Five reasons why CBS should cancel this show....1. Same old challenges-S.O.S, Maze, trivia, puzzle, and leading the blind. Mark B needs to create new challenges fast. 2. Lame challenges-Making a kite. 3. Same character, different actor-Richard Hatch/John, Susan Hawk/Patrica, Rudy/Pascal, Dirk/Vee, and Kelly W/Tammy. 4. Same old plot-The tribe switch members or "Fly under the radar" contestants win. 5. The tie breakers. The show has jump the shark a long time ago. I know that Thailand is the next stop. It is very tempting, but I don't want to watch this sad show.

I would much rather watch these reality shows than half of the other garbage they are producing for sit coms these days. And I will just come out and say it, I have no life. These shows are what get me through the week. The only people who want to do away with reality shows are people who can't accept reality, and think they are better than everyone else. I have seen all 64 survivor castaways so far, maybe you are better than some of them. But go out there and tell me you wouldn't do the same things that these people do. The mear thought of $1 million makes most people go nuts. So for those people who think they are better than these people, take a couple of steps back and face REALITY!!!!!

I think it would be a great idea to cancel "Survivor". I am so sick and tired about all of the hoopla produced about this show on TV, on radio, and just about every other media outlet possible. I watched about 15 minutes of it once and I could not understand why people like it so much; it is brain-dead entertainment. The promoters of the show call it "reality" television, but there is nothing real about it. People are given a series of events and they react to it in a rehearsed way. Survivor is a soap-opera that takes place in exotic locales. It represents the "dumbning" down of American television. Network executives should provide programming that will educate the public and entertain them at the same time. Reality television brings down television just a notch. Personally, I don't watch network T.V. anymore because I think that the quality of the programming has gone down drastically over the past 3 years. The almighty dollar reigns more than ever in network boardrooms and this has caused the quality of the programs to go down. What makes money is the order of the day. That is a shame; I think that the public would be better served if dumb shows like Survivor were to be cancelled.

Boy, CBS has made a bunch of dumb decisions in its life. Not all of them were dumb, but some were quite idiotic. First, in 1971, CBS began to kill tons of shows in what it called a move to kill all sitcoms that did not have urban appeal. These included top-notch comedies like Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction and Mayberry RFD. Also cancelled were the Red Skelton and Ed Sullivan shows. It also led the "crusade" that led comedy to become more dirty and sex-minded. Now, it's bringing reality to TV! Yechh! TV is meant to be unreal! Cancel the show now and let the voyeurs cry if they want!

Great idea.I tried this show for about ten minutes and that is all I could take.Put 16 strangers in a remote place and see what they will do to each other to survive. I could care less who "survives" Like I want to see people at their worst to "win". What is even more annoying is even if they do not win they are famous just for being on that show and we get to see their faces all over the media, in advertisements, game and talk shows.making lots of money.Boy what greed. Now there even more of these reality shows on which I do not watch. Time to turn off the television and do other stuff while this junk is on the airwaves.

Excellent suggestion, but I doubt it would fly at this point. First of all, I believe this show and reality TV in general only represent yet another point in the downward spiral of taste and quality entertainment on television. From what I've been able to tell, the success of this show is based on the vicarious rush people (apparently) get from watching what is at least touted as real (sorry, I don't think it's any more real than professional wrestling or Jerry Springer but whatever). The fact that it is/was a hit proves that it really doesn't take anything more complicated or intelligent than watching people gripe, duke it out, whine, moan and eat bugs to satisfy the public. The actual reality about reality TV is that it is basically just a very crude but socially acceptable form voyeurism, which had its roots in the coliseums of ancient times. Its creators are no doubt more than happy so many people are willing to set their intellect aside each week to watch this stuff because they have nothing to lose; the cruder it is the less creativity and pre-production, effort, time and (best of all) money involved. The scary part is that "Survivor" is fairly mild c
