More like 3.5. I always thought she was somewhat overrated and doesn't have much range. Although, I did really enjoy her performance in "Confessions of A Dangerous Mind".

She probably deserves four star for her acting ability, but I'm going to have to demote her a star for the kind of movies she makes. I can't say that I've ever been excited to see the next Julia Roberts movie.

Some will disagree but Julia Roberts is pretty good. She can do comedy and serious roles as well.

Can't watch anything she's in. Pretty Woman was the worst movie of all-time, no wonder Hollywood pays her $20 million a film. Think about the plot, a Hollywood street hooker, who isn't on drugs, doesn't have AIDS, and won't let a rich millionaire take care of her financially because I guess that goes against her morals, but sucking d*ck for money doesn't....laughable. If this horse-toothed hag is America's Sweetheart, then I guess Charles Manson is the All-American Boy.....my god, the American public is so easily duped by Hollywood and the tabloids. I wish I could've rated her a zero but it wouldn't let me.

Whatever role she is in, she is always Julia Roberts first, I have never seen "disappear" into a character, like say, Meryl Streep.

All you one star people can stick it up your ass. Shes a wonderful actress and one of my few favorites too. And by God more people should be doing something about pollution, we need stars to jump on the green band wagon. Thats usually how environmental stuff gets started anyway. I've tried unsuccessfully again and again to imagine kissing her...but, oddly, memories of my grandpa's 1947 Buick Roadmaster, with that gawdy grillework of vertical chrome bars, in a gleaming grimace of arrogance or constipation...maybe both. Granted, she may be a decent actor, but since the tabloids bring their f-d up lives right to my morning bagel, I reserve the right to vary from an artistic rendition of criticism. By the way, Tom Cruise is allegedly a good actor, too.

I don't get it. She makes my skin crawl. It is a tribute to our society, however, that we can find high paying jobs for the mentally challenged. The fact that she became famous playing a chippie says it all!

We should all be listening raptly and gathering our political information from this high school graduate(?) and college drop out.

I have said this before, not on this site, however. With Julia Roberts, you either think she is a great actress, or a terrible one. Either super ugly or super sexy. I am one of these people who say that she is a great actress and is super sexy. People that complain about her fame are just posers who wish they had the same. Also, people say she is stupid, but actually, she is rather smart. Make a great guest on Real Time with Bill Maher. Has good attacks on George W. Bush, the absolute positive worst president in United States History.

She is a beautiful actress. She will be my favorite
forever. She has 8 movies that has made over 100 million
at the box office. I am not including the Ocean's
movies.I predict many more. She is the most successful

The hype surrounding her is definitely over-rated when compared to the buzz generated by an actual performance. There are definitely better actresses, and none of them are worth 20 mill. a movie, get real!

O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D! C'mon, 20 mil a film? She's proven time and again that she can't open a film. Put her in an emsemble (Ocean's 11, Closer) and she's fine. However, when her name is above the line (Mona Lisa Smile), she can't pull it off. And let's not even go to Broadway. 20 mil? Negro please..

I can't believe so many people are rating her lowly because they don't like her looks. I personally think she's lovely but that doesn't impact my opinion of her acting, which is A-1. She can do comedy (The Mexican, My Best Friend's Wedding) as well as drama (Steel Magnolias, Erin Brockovich) and is fabulous in suspense (Sleeping with the Enemy, Mary Reilly, The Pelican Brief). I really can't recall her in anything that I didn't at least like.

An OK actress. Cliche roles.

The reason I like Julia, besides being a good actress, is because she hasn't been in any awful movies. The extent being Pretty Woman.

she is a one trick pony. All she can do is flash that shark tooth grin of hers. This woman has no talent and is ugly as sin. How she beat out Ellen burstyn for a oscar in that made for sunday night movie Erin brockovich is beyond me. Ellen preformance in REQUIEM FOR A DREAM outstanding. Ellen is the best living actor today.

Started out slow in her career but she has slowly but surely become one of the great actresses of today. We will definately see more great performances and more oscars from Julian down the road.

I was a bit surprised to see her name so far down on the list, but not completely perplexed. This is one actress whose sudden popularity Hollywood over exploited. She is talented and pretty, but she needs to focus her acting skills into the making of a couple of great movies, such as Erin Brockovich, instead of the mass production of mediocre ones. I found her quite annoying while accepting her Oscar, okay, so you finally won yourself the big one, get off of the stage already, its embarrassing!

She's okay, most of the time. But when she presented the oscar to Denzel Washington, she was so full of herself.

There is no reason that this SUPERB actress is so far down on the poll. Obviously all these voters don't appreciate good talent and they're just judging on...something else.

She's excellent. She seems to have same sort of parts but I can always count on her to have a very good movie.

TOTALLY OVERRATED

When I rate an actress, I rate them primarily for their acting ability. That being said, Julia Roberts is a good actress- attesting to her performances in 'Pretty Woman' and 'Erin Brockovich'. But what she has to realize is that no one cares about what she thinks politically. Roberts is paid to act- plain and simple. But she deserves 4 stars based on her acting ability (she can still get even better with time).

Great Actress. Will be renowned as one of the best of her generation. Just a note though. I don't care what your politics are, keep them to yourself. Politics will never advance an acting career, never.

I think J.R. exemplifies everything currently wrong with American culture. In the old days, you had actors who were either terribly good-looking and/or sexy or were tremendously talented and versatile. Now you have overpaid mediocrities, not particularly attractive or talented, who play the same trite, superficial cute role in every movie they're in and, depressing to say but true, they're never begging for work. In the old days, you had Cagney or Hepburn or Davis. Now you've got Julia Roberts. It's depressing to contemplate how banal movies in America have become.

Very much overrated. Ever notice how she looks like a gator-mouth?? She is hit and miss in movies. I would definitely let her give a hand job but that is where I would say that's enough.

Good movies, She's all right

Julia Roberts is a good actress, but she only gets a 3 with me right now. She's talented, and is obviously devoted to her work.

Julia Roberts is the media darling and Hollywood's elite call her America's Sweetheart, but to the ticket buying public shes just simply overrated. Don't get me wrong, shes done some good work in Steel Magnolia's, Pretty Woman and Erin Brokovich, but guaranteed eight times out of ten her movies don't live up to the reputation she percieves. It makes you wonder how powerful the media and Hollywood is to allow a woman whose not even as talented as some of her peers but still somehow manages to be the highest earning actress in the industry.

I can't stand this woman & I can't sit through any movie she's in. That annoying laugh, that giant toothy mouth & that skeletor face. She sucks! (I'll take a Melanie Griffith flick any day over this goofball's swill).

She doesn't make the kinds of movies I would pay to see. Mostly her's are all boy meets girl in awkward situation, fall in love, out of love, then back in love again. I have never, ever, ever understood what part part of her is considered beautiful, or even pretty. She's funny looking if you ask me. Did you ever see the REAL Erin Brokovich? Now the real Erin is an absolute beauty - why in heaven's name did they pick Roberts to play the role? She's another one of those American phenomenon's that owes everything to her publicist, cause I don't know what else she got going on that generates appeal.

Does the same schtick in every single movie as in walks in on the guy in the shower by accident and then goes into the phony Oh my God I am so embarrassed squeal. Not real and not believable. By her hateful political statements, I guess she doesn't want Republicans to pay to see her movies. My husband is a Republican and I'm an Independent. I am not going to pay good money to see her movies, when she insults my husband.

never could understand her appeal as America's Sweetheart as what's sweet about her? Has a huge mouth and awful figure and the phoniest laugh ever. Her brother Eric is much more talented. A mediocre actress but her pictures sell and make money or Hollywood would never keep her as they worship the God of Money. Have enjoyed reading all the other comments about her as I hadno idea so many people agreed with me. I'd give her marriage - oh, maybe another 3 months?

The most overrated actress in Hollywood.

I used to rate her, back when she first appeared in my teenage years as pretty woman etc. But as the years have gone by she seems to have morphed into a sour old crabapple. The characters she plays are all complicated, highly strung woman that never seem to have anything positive that they can see in their joyless lives, and she seems to stalk through her movies shaking her hands and her overly styled hair, while the attidude of ok so I know I'm beautiful and overpaid, lets get it over with already, even though everyone knows I'm too good for my leading man oozes from every pore. She appears to be living off past glories, ie her 90s rep as a hottie. But really, there's only so far you can go on looking like you've sucked on a lemon! Also her rep as a man-eater does her no favours. She needs to lighten up, take a role that pokes fun at her serious image and get back in the running again.

Some of you people are saying that she's a bad actress? What if you wher her and someone just like you were making rud comments on how bad you were and looked? I think she's a great actress. DON'T JUDGE PEOPLE BY THERE LOOKS WHEN YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW THEM.

Does she ever even act in her movies? It seems she is Julia Roberts in every part. She isnt good or bad, just there.
