Howie Long does a great job and is definitely one of the top Fox announcers and top 5 overall football personalities for me. He is unbiased, offers great insight as a former player - he really goes beyond what your eyes can tell you with the mute button on, which is the sign of a good anaylst. Definitely one of the best in the business.

Fits well on Fox which seems to be more a comedy than credible sports show. Obviously it works for somepeople but not me. This show invites satire, SNL could make it a weekly skit in the fall and people might not know which is the real thing.

Very smart. Worth listening to. Puts Terry Bradshaw to shame.

Howie looks like a guy who was always called dumb because he played football and now wants everyone to think he's smart and take him seriously. It's obvious in his delivery and comments. He wants to be the anti-Terry Bradshaw. Lighten up guy, you were a Raider!

Howie is very good at what he does. He comes across as knowledgeabl without being cocky and egotistical. He plays a very good straight man next to Terry Bradshaw, they almost have a Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis thing going, but not to that extreme. I thought he was a little dirty as a player, but i respected his toughness, he was as tough and strong as they come. A joy to watch on Sunday.

I think Howie does an excellent job on Fox Sports! The relationship that he and Terry have makes the show.I must admit he is the reason that I watch Fox sports on Sundays with my husband. He is VERY easy on the eyes but he does an excellent job giving the facts. As long as he is on Fox I will be watching!

I agree with the other commentors who have said that Long has a very good TV presence. He's very knowledgeable of the game and always well prepared. He comes across as authoritative without sounding cocky or arrogant. He's also a good team player and works well with personalities varying from the brash and outrageous Terry Bradshaw to the smug and somewhat arrogant Chris Collinsworth. I have no doubt he could carry the broadcast on his own if necessary. Clearly destined to be one of the all time greats.

Howie is buff, Howie is tough, Howie looks like he once a player. This makes him more believeable than other sportscasters. Although he seems sortof rigid I really enjoy his comments. He has an aura about him that inspires others around him to excel. Howie is a catalyst for information.

I couldn't stand him when he played ball. Still can't stand him as a sportscaster.

Very good at breaking down various situations. Also, knowledge about ins-and-outs of trench war to explain the less-well-known players. Also, great player and personality.

He is a great sports announcer especially because he was a professional sports player. His outlook on the commented sport gives the viewer another aspect of the sport world.

Howie Long is not that good of a communicator. He is only there because they needed someone to fill in that chair. The only thing he is good for is adding onto other people's comments. He is able to do this because of his experience as a football player.

He is great on camera. He looks really sharp and always has great insight on each football game. It's also nice to hear from a Hall of Famer as well! You know that his advice can really be trusted when it comes to football. I really enjoy the Fox sports team every Sunday- they all have great chemistry.

Howie Long is a great TV sports personality. He always keeps you energized about football. He makes football even more interesting than it already is. Football is a wonderful thing and we need more commentators like Howie Long. You can really tell that he is really interested in what he is talking about. He knows what he is talking about and can always tell you what you need to know about.

I don't think that there is anything special about Howie. His good rapport with Bradshaw is due to Bradshaw's humor.

My favorite Howie Long story: as a student at Villanova University in the 70s he learned that one of his friends had just gotten beaten up at Kelly's - the local Villanova bar. Legend has it that he strolled in to Kelly's and proceeded to take on the whole bar, leaving the place in shambles, and everyone on the floor. Ironically, his jersey still hangs proudly at Kelly's to this day.
