Holidays aren't the only time to do this.

Depends. I've had some real gustatory treats and I've had some dubious surprises. You really haven't experienced a holiday meal until you've had turkey stuffed with artichokes, olives, and macadamia nuts.... And you're better off for it...

The holidays are DEFINITELY the best time to exchange and try out new recipes (or to perfect them). By the way, if anyone is planning to bake cupcakes for the holidays, the way to keep them extra moist is to add in applesauce into the batter and to fold it in slowly (my sister told me this). Can't wait to try! =)

Consider this a Public Service Announcement.
This year frost came before all of our tomatoes were red and ripe, so I picked them green. I then Googled recipes for green tomatoes and found rave reviews for Green Tomato Pie. Following the recipe to a "T", I successfully made the pie.
I imagine if a lost and hungry group of invading soldiers stumbled upon my home and found this pie, they would have, gratefully, scarfed this thing down, along with some of our wine. But, Stark and I...being amount the top 2% of the richest people in the world...as in...we have, at least, our next 5 to 10 meals in fridge, found this to be the most boring and uninteresting "thing" we've eaten in a long, long time. Not even copious amount of cinnamon could make it a hit. It would seem like an insult to try to give it to a friend, or neighbor, so we trashed it...
