Its always sad when someone dies young, and if that could be said of anyone, its for Studs, who still seemed young and vibrant at 96. A hell of a writer, a unique voice in American letters, and a fine observer of the human condition. I had the privilege of meeting him a quarter century ago, and still treasure the brief conversation we shared.

I didn't know much about him, but Studs Terkel definitely makes the name Hall of Fame.
