 | twansalem (44) 08/01/2008 | The Spider-Man of the comic books and the cartoons was one of the best superheroes out there. But I do agree somewhat with Numbah about the recent movies doing something to the overall appeal of Spider-Man. They're actually decent movies, it's just that Peter Parker is no longer Peter Parker, he's more Toby Maguire, which isn't a good thing.

 | CanadaSucks (50) 08/01/2008 | Hard to deny the appeal. First superhero to be a teenager. The genius of Spider-Man was both his cool powers and his real-world struggles. Parker has a sh$tty boss, has woman problems, has trouble paying rent, and struggles with his classes at N.Y.U. He's your nerdy cousin/relative struggling to survive during the day. It was always easy to empathize with him.

 | LastMessenger3 (41) 07/03/2006 | What's not to like. He can fly, he can walk on the walls, he is flexible, he defends the goodness, and portrayed very human(other than that colorful outfit). Wish I had the power to fly...wishful thinking!

 | cutegurl (17) 04/27/2005 | Spider-man is by far the best superhero ever. His powers are unique to the superhero world and he has a certain amount of humanity about him that other heroes lack. He has to give everything up to do what he knows he has to do. He doesn't like and it is hard for him, and that makes him human. This trait is lacking in the other superheroes that we see. They have no humanity, we never see them struggle with something other than fictitous villians. We get to see Peter struggle with something real, what he wants and what he knows it right and that's pretty cool.

 | Dirty Harry (1) 05/07/2004 | Like Daredevil, my Great rating is based on the old comic book version. Stan Lee and the gang nade this, if not the best, certainly second best, comic ever! Terrific art work, superb writing and plots. Mary Jane and Gwen as Spidey's (Peter Parker's) girlfriends added so much to the plots, along with Aunt May, JJ, etc. How I wish they'd re-print the entire series!

 | squirrelmaster69 (0) 05/04/2004 | spider-man has always been preety cool. his movie was good. in the comics didn't he built a thing to shoot those webs. in the movie i remember him actually shooting webs out his wrists and not the launcher. thats one example of hollywood changing stuff. venom and carnage look preety cool to. i think they should be in the next film.

 | guardian_devil (0) 11/22/2003 | Spidey is strong and all, but he has too many loose ends. If Peter had to go through what Matt did in the Born Again run of Daredevil, Peter would end up in the curled up in some corner in the fetal position sucking his thumb

 | CherrySoda99 (31) 11/14/2003 | Spiderman is all around awesom. And it's not just because Tobey Maguire is amazingly hot! I's because I love all the awesome things he can do!Like climb up walls and jump from building to building, and spin a web and swing like Tarzan, only much cooler!

 | tvtator (6) 11/09/2003 | Spider-Man is such a good super hero because he's a reluctant one. He wasn't an alien, born with super powers, it took a freak accident, and a death in the family to show he had a responsibility. Spiderman is also great because he's young so he can be a bit of a wise-ass, he's human so he's vulnerable and limited in his abilities.

 | StanUzbeck (16) 09/24/2003 | Spiderman is kind of everybody's favourite superhero. He couldn't fly, but he was super strong and could climb across any vertical surface. Shooting webs is a really cool power as well, especially since he could vary the type of web; there was one for swinging around the city, one for ensnaring bad guys, and one that he could sort of spin into a circle to create an inpenetrable shield. The movie sucked really bad though, I mean it lowered my estimation of Spider Man, it was that bad.

 | astroboy (0) 09/07/2003 | spiderman is the greateset of the Marvel heroes. As a boy you had to love him.His wisecracking is what made me a fan.As a young person you were supposed to be quiet, here we had a hero who spoke for many of us.Spidey had many a great villian and this is what makes a hero.If you don't have a good selection of villians the hero gets stale quickly. Can he swing from a thread? Hey take a look overhead.

 | TheMyth (0) 04/11/2003 | Spiderman is the perfect hero. He always does what's right, as super heroes do, etc. He always saves the day and still has time to say humerous remarks. But the thing that puts Spiderman over every other hero, he's a dork who's afraid to talk to the girl he wants. Spiderman is me, but with superpowers and all that good stuff.

 | gendron13 (0) 02/24/2003 | Spiderman is pretty good, but where in the world would someone come up with this? He got bit by a radio-active spider and all of the sudden got spider powers. I would think in real life someone would contract a deadly diease and die from it if they got bitten by a genetically altered spider, don't you think.

 | Martin Clegg (0) 02/23/2003 | Spidey rules!!!!!!
But just like Super-man I hate that Marvel has married him and that Aunt May is dead... They should leave the classic part of his world untouched.

 | lukskywlkr. (3) 11/07/2002 | One of my favorite heroes when I was a kid, and I'm glad they made a good movie of his story. I liked the seventies show starring Nicholas Hammond, but the one thing I never really understood was why he had to have cartridges to shoot webs. I mean, if he can climb walls and have spider sense, why couldn't he create his own webs internally? Anyway, they corrected that in the movie. He was always kind of a smart aleck in the comics and I was glad to see that he retained that in the movie too.

 | Alice666Cooper (0) 07/10/2002 | I would give Spider-Man no stars if I could! Spider-Man is the most terrible thing to ever happen to superheros. I think the whole plot is just stupid and every thing that comes along with it is terrible. One of the reasons I hate it so much is because I got a friend who is cool and all but he is 16 and still likes this stuff. I have no problem with that but he goes around bragging about how great Spider-Man is. It's very embarassing. I'm 14 and I still like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but I don't go around to good looking girls and talk about them. That's what my friend does with Spider-Fa*. I didn't even like the movie either. All in all Spider-Man is very very GAY!

 | latinlover (0) 04/02/2002 | So let's see..super-human strength, agility, and all his job is is a freelance camera man? Get a life, become a super villain, and rob some banks so you don't have that crappy job.

 | Jerry's Girl (0) 03/31/2002 | Spider-Man is one of my favorite super-heroes! Unlike Superman and some others, Spider-Man is kind of realistic. He has a job with a mean boss, tries to get with some girls, and runs out of money just like us. He doesn't have all these super powers like Superman. He's someone you can relate to. You also need to see the movie when it comes out.

 | oodie (0) 03/27/2002 | one of the best superheros created. Stan Lee did wonderful job writing the early Spidey's with a sense of high school innocence. in recent years i have lost myself on the series
but the coming film looks amazing!

 | Talena (0) 11/07/2001 | I am not to fond of spiders (EEK!), but I am giving Spider-Man a five because he is my little brother's favorite super hero. I grew up having to play with Spider-Man figues with my little brother, read him Spider-Man comics and watch all the Spider-Man cartoons with him. Over the years, I have grown to love Spidey...he reminds me of my little brother and our childhood together. Sounds really cheesy, I know...but it is true. Spider-Man brings back a lot of memories for me...and he is still my bro's favorite.

 | Potch1214 (0) 10/22/2001 | My favorite as a boy, I always loved the idea of spinning webs and "slinging" around New York. I loved the black suit, the red suit, any damned suit. Peter Parker was great. We got to watch him grow up with us, and marry an Uber-fox in Mary Jane Watson/Parker. I'll always have a special place for Spidey.

 | mr. authoritarian (0) 09/26/2001 | Spider-Man works because he has imperfections and a sense of humor just like real people, and that is why the reader can become so involved with his character. His abilities are also very unique. I just think that Superman is too perfect, and Batman is really just a detective who is really rich and can afford a lot of nice gear. The Spider-Man film comes out in the summer of 2002, and I can't wait!

 | stooge (0) 08/16/2001 | Spider-Man was always my favorite superhero. I liked the fact that he tried to juggle a student's life, with studies, buddies and girls, and tried to be a loving nephew and superhero to boot. I loved the early issues, where he first learned of his superpowers. He wanted to use them to make a good living for himself as an entertainer. He sees a bad guy running from the police and refuses to get involved. Later, his uncle is murdered and when they catch the fiend it turns out to be the bad guy that Peter Parker refused to help capture. That is the event that turned his life around, and caused him to leave the bright lights and fame to become a superhero.

 | PoorOldEdgarDerby (4) 10/10/2000 | Spiderman the coolest of superheroes, struggling student by day and wall crawling superhero by night and little bit of time in between for the chickys. When I was a kid I sent away for a Spiderman web shooter. It was one of those things you'd find in the back of the comic book. It came with a mini city and showed web stuff shooting across the buildings. Well as you can imagine I waited and waited and when it came it was such an incredible piece of crap I think I played with it for about a minute. The "web" element was essentially a tube of rubber cement that you were suppose to touch to one wall and then string across to the other and the city consisted of three cardboard walls with a brick desing painted on them. Needless to say this was not a fun game. What a jip. Despite this poor experience with "corporate" Spiderman I still think he was the coolest.

 | Ruby (16) 01/31/2000 | The old theme song to the Spiderman cartoon was perhaps the most amazing two minutes of music ever and "Listen, bud, he's got radioactive blood" one of history's greatest lyrics. And alas, Spiderman was a hero worthy of the tune.
