I mean no disrespect to followers of Mormonism, but I could never vote for a Mormon. They are too clannish, clubish, and secretive. Fine for them, not good for America.
Calaen2032 11/11/2009
The right guy 100% no doubt. He reminds me a lot of Ronald Reagan. So if he's the 2012 GOP nominee it would be like 1980 when Reagan beat Carter in a landslide election. Only in 2012 Romney will beat Obama in a landslide election
TJforAssembly2 010 11/05/2009
The wrong candidate. The wrong Republican. He got a government run healthcare program in Mass as Governor that no one likes. He is a war hawk and police state lovin' neo-con.

Mitt Romney would bring to the White House a much needed virtue, one that has escaped past candidates & presidents for some years...and that is truthfulness. Personally I'm tired of the spin and outright fabrications that seem to be required in elections. I want a candidate who tells me the truth without embelishment. Thus would require a man of honor, principle, morality and perception. I believe that Mr. Romney fits this discription. His unfortunate run in 2008 & susequent failure is probably due to his disconnect with the general public. His advisors were too distant from the voters and other than some general rhetoric nis platform mis read the American voter. The past administration was an American disaster in the making and unfortunately the agenda has continued and now it is becoming a reakity.Attacking your opponent is not what the public wants. They want jobs...jobs that hold a future. not some shovel ready gov't project which will be gone in a few months or one that is seeded and than disappears when the fed support evaporates. They want the gift of responsibility promised them by out founding fathers. I believe that the average American truly believes and understands the tremendous satisfaction and pride that living a responsible life delivers.Specifically they want tort reform, loopholeless legislation for campaign contribution, elimination of special interests ompact on our elected officials, a closer connect with our representatives, a sweeping change in civil service and most of all a return to common sensethese are the issues that are thorns in our sides.Unfortunately in your run for the presidency, you listened to the wrong people...next time, and i trully hope there will be one on your part, try employing some grass root folks who can bring you down to reality when the potentially enormous problems that you may face, overtake common sense. As I read the current political mess, I feel you are the most capable one to platform the republican party back to what is initially stood for, real cpnservatism and public responsibility.I sincerely hope that that you consider re-running and I personally would be honored to assi.st you in any way my talents would best serve,al brownaldorabrown@att.net

Romney is an empty suit, with no political principles. Next!
Josiah Schmidt 10/29/2009
Romney is destined always to come close but never win. He just doesn't have the support to clinch the nomination. He's seen as too much of a flip flopper.
tajitj 10/25/2009
Been there, done that, could not beat McCain, or even Huckabee in many states. Why do so many think he suddenly can lead the GOP to beat Obama? Romneycare in Massachusetts, come on people that was the model for some early draftings of the current national healthcare bill. He should sit on the sidelines and try to use his influence for another guy.

this man is perfect
py46 10/07/2009
He could be good if he would get out that "mandatory insurance" rut. No one can afford insurance on their own so give it up. Companies need to stop paying CEO's the salaries they are paying them so they have more money to put into the important things like insurance for employees.
Sherii 09/24/2009
He's already tried and failed. To me that shows that he's not a viable candidate.
McNutt 09/08/2009
The 2012 nomination is Romney's race to lose. Alot of people believe that he would have done a much better job that McCain in fighting of Obama in 2008. He's a great debator and would most likely be able to steal a few of the far northeast blue states away from the dems (Massachusetts, maine, and even michigan) and with the right running mate he could keep all the southern state on the GOP's side. And yes he could be the next reagan.
psimon7 09/04/2009
I like and I think he may have some crossover appeal but because of his faith the base will never vote for him. Any run for the White House for him is over in his own primaries.
Chalky 09/01/2009
Mitt Romney has a great chance of being a nominee. Overall, he's somewhat of a straight shooter (I don't think anyone really is), and has the money to stick around for a while.
yoplezy 08/07/2009
Are you kidding me?
SCYP 08/06/2009
Remember! Mitt Romney became the 3rd place next to John McCain and Mike Huckabee in Republican Presidential nomination 2008 because of his personality and religion. I and my fellow Christian conservative Republicans had learned a lesson of a broken legacy and self-destruction of a billionaire CEO U.S. President George W. Bush who doesn't care about poor people's economy. Mitt Romney is a Mormon who is a billionaire CEO presidential candidate. Our Christian conservatives don't want George W. Bush and Mitt Romney. We want Ronald Reagan, Tim Pawlenty, and Mike Huckabee who had raised from a poor family and become a successful giant for Jesus Christ. Vote for Mike Huckabee!
Phil Jacobs 07/19/2009
He is exactly what America needs. He's spent most of his adult life turning around situations that others thought were impossible. Plus, he won't be in way over his head like Obama obviously is.
tinky 07/19/2009
Nope, too much of a "Rich Guy."
ALEXRG 07/15/2009
He is the best candidate for president in the GOP. Sarah Palin must be crazy if she thinks shes going to win.
NASCAR2007 06/26/2009
He has wavered on abortion in the past and he just seamed like a polititian who thought he could win the election on looks.
abichara 06/20/2009
Probably currently the frontrunner for the Republican nomination right now. Being that he came in second place during the last primary season, this makes him heir apparent. What he makes of it is up to him. From what I hear, he already has a PAC up and is campaigning around the country for Republican candidates. It looks like his hat is in the ring. Romney ran a solid, well-polished campaign in 2008, although I believe his Mormonism might have hurt him in some of Southern primaries, along with his conflicted stands on abortions and gay rights. He didn't really play to his biggest strength during the campaign, which was his strong knowledge of the economic/fiscal issues. Instead he decided to run a culturally conservative campaign, which I found to be odd considering his history. Also I believe his business history as a leveraged buyout specialist could back to hurt him, especially in regards to job cuts made at companies he took over. In this political climate it could be very damaging if the opposition uses such information correctly. Such a tactic would be turning Romney's biggest strength (his business expertise) into a big liability.
IndepAmerican 06/08/2009
He is a stupid moron. He used to believe in Abortion. He also said in a debate that he would only discuss if we should go to war with lawyers. HELLO!! what about our Generals, Mr. Romney!
MrIsla 06/05/2009
ehhh, next please?
peteyE 05/28/2009
Romney should have stayed in the race in '08, as he would have hit a home run on the economy issue (not to mention the fact that he would be handling it well as president now!)The only thing that is keeping me from giving Romney 5 stars is the fact that he is "mormon", and this could hurt his viability as a candidate. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints myself (as is Romney), I can state the our church seeks to be politically neutral with respect to candidates and parties (such a statement is announced over the pulpit every election period), but unfortunately there are some people who think that he is "the candidate of the Mormon church" or something like unto it (which is certainly NOT the case). Please just remember that "Mormons" are christians (to a greater or lesser extent is up to you to decide), and let's focus on what we have in common rather than our differences. IF people can accept Romney on the issues (and NOT dismiss him on his religion), then I think that he would be a great candidate for President.
HondaRider91 05/20/2009
Romney should have stayed in the campaign in 08', but in 12' when I'll be old enough to vote, my vote would likely go to Romney. He is a very lively, down to earth man and I am solid with him on issues. He is a excellent example of the ideal Republican, and I would welcome him as my president anyday. I would like to see him run with someone like Huckabee or Thompson. Pray that Sarah Palin doesn't run, they think she may.
quarterhorse51 05/04/2009
Like many others, I am no fan of his religion but he does have good Administrative abilities and is a solid Republican on many issues. Would far rather have Romney than the socialist Obama Administration.
bnh12 03/12/2009
Mitt Romney is one of my favorite Republicans of all time. I could definetly see a Romney/Jindal or Romney/Palin ticket. I'm really not sure how Mr. Obama will due but we can hope he leads us in the right direction and let a Republican finish us off.
mikalose 01/23/2009
Knows what to do at the adminsitrative level. Will by then be keenly aware or how to fix the democratic economic blunders coming our way in the next 4 years.
caphillsea77 11/20/2008
He's a champion for capitalism, depending on how things pan out over the next 4 years he may very well be a strong contender. I can't believe I'm saying this after this past 2 year long election and our president elect hasn't even been nominated yet. Are Republicans wishing their lives away over the next 4 years?
Moosekarloff 11/17/2008
Plasticman, member of a weirdo religious cult that's homophobic and anti-American. Yeah, that's a great starting point for a candidate seeking national office. Seeing that this dimbulb is an ardent supporter of that ridiculous notion held by the GOP that tax cuts are the answer to all economic woes, disgarding all the other complex variables that factor into the picture, and you have an unappealing nimrod who's totally out of touch and about as current as a rotary-dial telephone.
OceanSoul 11/16/2008
Romney seems to have been anointed as the last best hope for the Republican Party. Though I do not find him objectionable, I believe many voters do. I doubt he could rally the base as well as a Southern candidate, what with his New England background and suspect record. His Mormonism seems to cause many to question the sincerity of his right-ward shift. I would not dare to handicap his probability of winning a primary or general election.
convinced1972 11/13/2008
Too Socialistic for me. Not much different from McCain. The Huawei company that Mitt's former company was going to sell 3Com (US Defense Contractor) to, supplied air defense to Saddam Hussein when American Pilots were maintaining the No-Fly Zones in Iraq.
vision4america 11/13/2008
I'm taking the next two years to really educate myself on Romney, Palin, Pawlenty and Jindal. These people have my interest right now but I'm going to hold off on guessing who would be the best candidate...however...I have to agree with Vic on this one...it all comes down to the republican party returning to it's conservative backbone!
CanadaSucks 11/13/2008
That 'liberal media' left the Mormon issue quite untouched because it was apparent that Romney hit critical mass and wouldn't get the nomination. Goofy zealots don't think much of Mormonism and those damn book-reading-types don't think much of a false interpretation of a fraudulent theology that espoused that (until the 70's) that black people didn't have souls. Many people want Romney to distance himself from these and other unpleasant things in Mormonism- but Romney's been a good boy because he hasn't been challenged by the media on his religion.
Still, in Mass. Romney went to the center on many issues and was an efficient leader in Mass. (Mass!) He saw his electorate and made some intelligent and proper political moves. Too bad his party still seems mystified by this winning formula. Romney's future is in the air at this point- but make no mistake, the media didn't touch his religion the way they probably will in 2012. Three today- but this could change at any time.
Victor83 11/13/2008
Romney's chances- first to win the nomination, and secondly to win the 2012 election- depend greatly on the direction the GOP takes over the next 2 to 4 years. If the party maintains its propensity to come off as center-left-center, Romney will have to run that way. If that happens, Obama will clean his clock. If the party moves back to the winning formula of conservatism, Romney would fit in well and have an excellent shot of being elected.
EschewObfuscat ion 11/13/2008
Good God, we just elected a black guy. We can't elect a Mormon? Whew. Mitt has the machine and the money. He will make a credible run for the presidency in 2012. By then, every republican will look like he walks on water. Mitt is one of three on the inside track right now, in late 2008.
portecrayon 11/10/2008
Mitt has too many financial intrest for me to believe he will do the Will of the People
Mitt would be a horrible choice, however get ready to have him rammed down your throat.
Mitt is one of four founders of Bain Capital which purchased ownership in Clear Channel Communications(along with Thomas H Lee Partners) in July 2008 a very large media conglomerate.
Mitt will use all resources at his disposal to get elected, however we should all be numb to the outrageous media bias.
Drummond 11/09/2008
He'll be the sacrificial lamb to be blown out of the water by Obama.
numbah16tdhaha 11/09/2008
As long as those in opposition can keep painting his being a Mormon as dangerous, he won't make it anywhere.
irishgit 11/09/2008
I have no doubt his hat will be in the ring, and I have equally no doubt that the religious right of the GOP will have collective coronaries at the thought of a Mormon on the ticket. I'm not a fan of the guy, but he has a few brain cells and some political ability. I don't think he'd be a bad choice, but I don't think he'll make it any further in the next primary season than he did in this one.
Katrinabena 11/09/2008
Romney comes across as a little too slick. The Republican party needs to make some changes and Romney is too much of a tote the party line guy. He would be a poor choice.
Doctor of Madness 11/06/2008
I think the world of Mitt. In four years, if the economy is still bad, he would be the one to solve the problem. Harry Reid, senate majority leader, is a Mormon, so that shouldn't be that big of a problem. Imagine the government being run using good business practices. Wouldn't that be the change that we really need?
waideyboy 11/06/2008
worst republican presidential candidate in the 08' primaries
oscargamblesfr o 11/06/2008
This slick carpetbagging perfect hair Yuppie can go back to doing what he did before- dealing with the Gremlins from Gremlins 2 - he always reminds me of the Trump- like figure in that film. The small town , why aren't you a white Protestant?, unless you burn The Canterbury Tales and Sgt. Pepper's,I'll shoot you with my Bible shaped gun, crowd- won't vote for any Mormon... unless maybe he drops that second m in his religion's name.
Astromike 11/05/2008
He is a well qualified man. But he will never make it. Sadly old fashioned people will never vote for him due to his religious beliefs (Mormon). Poor guy.
zuchinibut 11/05/2008
Unless a new face comes out of nowhere, I think Romney would be the most likely candidate in 2012. Will four years be enough time for people to forget he is Mormon?
