At one time, Allen was seen as a rising star in the party (and possible 2008 frontrunner for President), but one soundbyte caught by a Democratic operative essentially destroyed his political career. Who knew that the word "macaca" could do so much damage?

George Allen was a rising star in the party until his bizarre, clumsy, and surprising loss in the 2004 election in Virginia. He was in a close race and did something that the GOP does out of habit- go to the right of Attila the Hun. He lost Virginia- a nutshell of the 2004 elections. Instead of being a rising star of the party he's representative of the old guard that has to be modified or disposed of if the GOP is to regain prominence. Political figures like this helped VA go blue in 2008- Allen's fall from public grace is cement in his shoes for 2012.

George Allen! The treasure! The next Ronald Reagan (Reagan lover)! Hail George Allen from Virginia is like Hail Barack Obama from Illinois. George F. Allen is the most awesome conservative with Ronald Reagan and Sam Brownback inside the Republican party more than Rudy Giuliani and John McCain. Although George Allen won the Virginia U.S. Senator only once by losing to a worst liberal Democrat James Webb, but he had ever won Virginia Governor twice and can legally runs for Virginia Governor in 2009. If his past racist slurs are not big problems to past to the nationwide general public and if his age of 60 will not be his trending problem, he will be a better presidential contender than Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, and Tim Pawlenty in 2012.
