i like Duncan Hunter. I wish he could have had a greater impact on the 2008 primaries in the GOP. I disagree on health insurance across states lines - which would make Vermont the cheapest, and thereby spread poor-regulate healthcare. On immigration and almost all other issues, I think the conservative base can embrace Hunter... if we can just remember his name.

Another one who may have a bright future, but he needs to gain more experience before shooting for the highest office in the land.

Having seen this man on the C-Span "Road To The White House" coverage, I thought this was the man I wanted to vote for in the 2008 primary, but dog gone it he kept on mentioning in every speech about his son being in the military and I found out some of his views did not agree with my views. However, I thought he had enough experience to end this war going on. Getting this economy back up and Social Security fixed are the main issues right now. Social Security running out of money in 2016 is very serious.

I like Hunter, he's a good candidate, for me it's between him, Paul and maybe DeMint??? I still favor Paul!

who is he?

a good representative for his district; he should look towards a State position before he tries to become President from the H of R.

He is excellent on the illegal immigration issue and that is a serious problem that needs to be fixed sooner than later. This issue affects so many other issues like education, economy, traffic, taxes, etc, etc. So it's actually multi-issued. He needs to have a good debate with other nominees on immigration.

He is certainly conservative enough, but he needs to win a statewide election before he can be thought of as a realistic contender. If he can't become a governor or U.S. senator, what chance would he have of winning a national election? To me, his name sounds like someone looking to shoot holes in donuts!

Unelectable, and will only get more unelectable as times pass.

I respect Hunter and his view-points, except for the foolishness of the border wall. However, Hunter was an irrelevant candidate in '08 and in '12 he will only be older.

I like Duncan Hunter, but I can do little more than echo what has already been said by a few others. He lacks the name recognition on a national level. If the Republican party as a whole got behind this guy and helped to promote his ideas he could very well stand a chance.

Was the best Candidate that the GOP had this time around. His platform fit all Americans no matter what your political stance is. That's Conservatism in a nutshell. Doing what's right for America and not burdening anyone.
waideyboy 11/06/2008
not saying he's a bad choice; i just don't think he can get the support he needs though

Up and coming figure in the party? Perhaps, but for the record I want to state his name sounds like someone on the Disney Channel or the host of an MTV beach party.

He needs to get his name out there to be considered a real possibility. I think his attempt this time around ended so early just because not enough people outside of California knew who he was.

For the sake of objectivity, my 5 rating may be more an expression of hope than analysis of possibility; but this would be a wise move for the GOP.
