Of course he will. He values the environment (and our resultant worldwide status) much more than he values the ability of American workers to get jobs. As we elevate the importance of the environment, all fuels cost more, running down productivity, shrinking profits and investment capital, raising unemployment and throwing more (count on it) Americans out of work. But, look on the bright side: the air will be just a teency bit cleaner after 20 years, as long as you stay in the US.

Obama spent a lot of time here in New Hampshire. He was always driving around with a big group, bothering people and wasting gas. I don't call that good for the environment. I heard that an Obama cavalcade ran over Emil Harrison's dog. That cost Obama a few votes.

I don't read this item as claiming that Obama will be better for the environment than McCain would have been. Either would have been an improvement over Bush. Either is smart enough to try to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, which gets worse every year. Either will/would have tried to promote alternative energy sources to reduce that dependence. Even that charlatan T. Boone Pickens agrees we can't drill our way out of this, although no one is mentioning Pickens' huge vested interest in alternative energy, since he controls most of the natural gas in this country and a pretty big share of existing wind power energy. I think you'll see a bailout of the U.S. auto industry if, but only if, they're willing to substantially commit to alternative-fueled vehicles. If they won't, then as the saying goes, fu*k 'em. It was their own lack of vision and contentment with modestly growing their quarterly profits instead of looking out long-term for their shareholders that got them into the mess they're in. Too bad all the workers and small businesses who are dependent on them have to suffer too, but we can't support every stupid businessman. Going green is the next big source of business and jobs in this country, and we need to invest in it right now.

Ranking things that haven't happened yet- strange, weird trend. . .then again, it would be hard to match the declining standards created by the present administration so that faux 'standards' would be met. Oh, and we probably ain't gonna f#cking drill, either. . .no matter how many hicks scream with hard-hats, time to think past the drugs, kids.

Yes, Obama will cave on every front to the enviro-wacko movement. He will sign off on the Kyoto Treaty (or worse), which will be very harmful to our economy and our sovereignty. He will also limit, decrease, or eliminate offshore drilling, seeing to it that the USA remains dependent on foreign oil. We can also blow a collective goodbye kiss to nuclear and clean coal.

There is more to a healthy environment and how we influence it than one man sitting in the big chair...

This issue is tied very heavily to the energy issue and Obama's position on this would make Dr Irwin Corey giddy. When this is on his desk, will he get out of the way and, more importantly, will he be able to convince the nation's lawmakers to allow American industry to thrive on its own fuel, or will he pull one out of the Clinton playbook and claim executive privilege under the Antiquities Act of 1906 and turn our whole frickin' country into a National Park?

bankrupting the coal mining industry isnt gonna solve much.

I smell much racism in this topic. In what sense will one man be better for the environment? Will he fart less than would have McCain?
