Hurray!! It's a big win for unintended consequences and political morons worldwide.... Iran & Al Qaida supporters everywhere were praying for this Hussein Obama guy to be elected. They know now that their future is assured and they have a free rein to expand their influence everywhere without opposition from this chickenshit president. One consequence of this is that Israel will now have to bomb the expanding nuclear facilities around Tehran, possibly even before Hussein Obama takes power, since they know they will get no military backing from the U.S. after the coward takes the reins... And they can expect a withdrawal from the mideast and a move toward isolationism in the DemocRats short-sighted view of a peaceful world. Unfortunately, the power hungry dictators and despots don't share the DemocRats view of the universe.... Chavez, Ima-nut-job (Iran), Kim Jung ILL (Korea) and KGB agent Putin who is still pulling the strings behind the scenes and has a dream of expanding back to the old Soviet Union and communist control, not to mention China and their expansionist intentions (Taiwan will soon be theirs because they know Obama won't stand up to them). These guys are rejoicing at this golden opportunity... If DemocRats were smart, they would be Republicans, although, they were lucky enough to convince people that the recent credit crisis was the fault of the Republicans, in spite of the fact that the Republicans led by McCain tried to institute reasonable controls on the Community Organizers 5 years ago and were voted down by the very DemocRats that ultimately brought about the crisis by forcing banks to grant mortgages to unqualified buyers who couldn't make the payments and where forced into default in droves. Dodd and Obama where at the top of the list with 5 other DemocRats in these giveaway programs but because of short timing and the Liberal-biased media (80% DemocRats), this won't come out until after the election. This guy really IS the Manchurian Candidate and we will only find out when he begins his Socialist agenda. Let's hope he gets impeached for his deceptiveness before he can do damage to the country and our Constitution.

I dunno. . .I felt disadvantaged when that assh#le cop pulled me over in college and searched my trunk illegally. . .where was prince Dumbo?  Huh?  When will he build a time-machine to fix that injustice?

It is a major relief to hear someone in government working from the assumption that government can do some good rather than just get out of the way. Whether from self-deception or sheer selfishness, some of the paleoconservatives have never gotten beyond this basic incoherence in their philosophy, and maybe today they will learn their lesson. Now maybe some real conservatives can figure out a better way of reconciling their desire for liberty with the founding idea of democracy--that we ARE the government ... Let's not have anyone else run for government on the principle that there is no hope or opportunity in government ...

I am totally disadvantaged.  Several of my ex-wives are still after me for back alimony.  I am going to drop Obama a postcard to get help.

I do hope that he will open his heart to the poor, those with physical handicaps or illnesses and those with mental health problems etc..

  Also to those who nobody will hire because of the color of their skin, their culture, their weight, their handicaps, their mental health problems, their sex and for whatever other silly reason employers won't hire someone. Lazy? I don't think so. Lazy people who don't want to bother with opening up to others and trying to help integrate them into the society? Yeah, really

Obama's election does give hope that opportunity will not be denied merely because of skin color. That's a proper role for government. But beyond that, his election says that all things, even becoming President, are possible if you're willing to work hard and take advantage of the opportunities. It doesn't indicate that anything is due those who are lazy and want things handed to them. Everyone now is playing by the same rules: those who work hard will get ahead, those who don't won't.

Hope? Sure, but hope in one hand and shit in the other and see which fills up first.

Opportunity? That would make him truly unique.

A president who gives opportunity.  Under our constitution?  Well .  .  . ok.  Vic is right, of course, governments tend to be oppressive bodies which usurp rights.  That is why we have a constitution that seeks to prevent them from doing that.  If he gives you hope, God bless you, you'll need it.  The guy who gives me hope is the guy who knows that his ideological approach to governing is likely to allow me to be free and develop my own opportunities.  I have seldom benefitted from any government initiative, aimed at making America a better or fairer or cleaner place.

  Does he give hope...Hell Yes.

Opportunity...Lets wait and see.

One day (maybe) people will wake up to the realization that government creates neither opportunity nor wealth. For now however, the faithful are high on the socialist Kool Aid.
