I am expecting her to run again in 2016, 2012 if she is feeling especially ambitious. I remember he back in the early 2000s saying that she would NOT run in '08. I do not think we have seen the last of her.

Maybe, maybe not. Now we're hearing reports that Obama has offered the position of Secretary of State to Hillary Clinton. In my view, this would be a big mistake for the incoming President. The pundit class is citing Obama's fascination with Abraham Lincoln's approach to managing a Cabinet that consisted of a "Team of Rivals", as historian Doris Kearns Goodwin puts it in her new book. Lincoln put together a cabinet that consisted of all of his primary rivals for the Republican nomination in 1860. One of them, Secretary of State William Seward became one of his most trusted advisors (and one of his best appointments), but another, Secretary of the Treasury Salmon Chase was constantly undermining Lincoln, including his war strategy. Obama needs to be careful here. Goodwin's study was instructive in nature, NOT prescriptive. You want creative tension, but you don't want a member of your administration to undermine you at every turn. It is true that creative tension can lead to positive policy outcomes, but if not managed correctly, it can lead to confusing signals or convoluted outcomes. That is especially so in such a high profile and sensitive position as Secretary of State. Hillary will probably use the position to pursue her own agenda and possibly even use it as a springboard to higher office. Hillary will surely be young enough to run for President in 2016. Making this move would make a big splash, but there will be plenty of conflicts should Hillary take the position. There are many qualified candidates who can more than ably serve.

I think Hillary was fine. At least her campaign didn't run over any dogs like the Obama campaign vehicles did.

I think there's a real good shot that she'll run again in the future. This is not a job that I think many women can handle, but this one I don't think there's any question about at all. She's very smart and articulate.

The Clinton's are always power hungry, I wouldnt rule it out yet. Even if she is approaching McCain's age next time around.

I have never been a Hillary fan but... never say never!

We just have the car running, we haven't even started down the road yet. If things go in the toilet over the next four years, I could see Hillary taking a page from Ted Kennedy and running against an incumbant with a "See I Told You" campaign. Even if it is an eight year wait, she would be... 68? She'll still have a solid base of support and obviously name recognition. It's not out of the question.

I sincerely hope not . . . . sure, I'd like a female president to be elected in my lifetime, just not HER . . . .

As I see it, her only shot would have been a run in 2012 after four yesr of a McCain Presidency. As it stands now she will either have to challenge the incumbent of her own party in 2012 or wait till 2016. If Obama is in for eight years, no Dem will stand a chance.

Supreme Court Justices probably shouldn't run anyway.

I hope to God Hillary never runs again for anything, really.....maybe she can be in the Westminster Dog Show or something.

See now, if there is still a country here in 2012, if the US constitution survives, Hillary won't be able to run until 2016.
