He was one of my favorites growing up. Wasn't impressed with the live film. Even now the cartoon is pretty dumb but when I was a kid.....UNDERDOG was sooooooooo cool

Funny how many of the "superhero" characters in their alter-egos are usually "nerdy", studious, or shy types. Underdog was one of those (as the humble, loveable Shoeshine Boy). Although this cartoon was made before I was even born, I remember watching the reruns of Underdog every weekday morning before heading off to school. I really enjoyed it. A real classic. Wally Cox was his voice.

I liked Underdog better as a kid. as an adult i cannot help but notice the lousy cartooning and plots of these cartoons. Underdog himself was okay I liked he was this meek shoeshine boy and became a hero especially when his girlfriend was in trouble which was always.

I used to get made fun of for wearing an old Underdog T-shirt around school. While the cartoon was meant as a parody of Superman-style mega-perfect heroes, the character's lovability made him his own dog. The idea of a small, very humble pup being a valiant protector of good still rings inside me. The perfect hero for a small child, and grown-ups who remember what it was like to be small. Underdog is the best!

Each of us has been the underdog in life and this little hound with heart of gold and spirit bold is our mascot, ladies and gentlemen. He puts the uper in super and the ero in hero, and pulls it all off with a level of humility borne of a different age ..... Underdog .... not a plane, not Superman ... simply a dog, hero and friend to us all.
